Ex-Sony Liverpool Devs Form “Sawfly Studios”

TSA: "Sony Liverpool may be no more, after being closed last August, but from the ashes of the developers responsible for WipEout comes Sawfly Studios, who announced their presence this afternoon via a slightly sparse but interesting enough website and a few Twitter mentions." (Industry, Sawfly Studios)

Don't expect it for a while. From the limited information this is a studio (at the moment) consisting of 4 people from the old Liverpool studio unless they go mobile for now

You would be amazed what 4 good devs can come up with! Also they probably know a lot of great devs that are not working that they can take on board.

I wish all the best to them!!

Well, it's very possible it could be something PSN related.
I'm sure these ex Sony developers still have "connects and contacts" with other Sony studios in the UK.

Obviously, programing wise, developing games for the PS3 would be something that's familiar to them, so there's a good chance for that.

Fez was a one man developer, so imagine what 4 of them can do .

Im sure theyll make beautiful games together given some time.

The majority of Sony Liverpool merged with Evolution studios. So this new company may be formed from the former higher ups of Sony Liverpool or not.

Interesting to see what kinds of titles this studio will develop. By the size so far it may as well be for mobile devices for the time being. Maybe if relationships are still strong some PSN/PSMobile titles.

Yes cause making a Game for the company that put me out of a job, is who I truly want to help make money first. /s Think not they should do Apple, Android, XBLA first, don't think Sony first on their list.

Sorry but there are plenty of times where a business decision has to be made to shut down a studio but still allow them some resources to continue on their own.

Im fairly sure this isnt a "Microsoft-like" shutdown where the studio resents them and badmouths them in the media.

I wouldnt be surprised if they still got help from SONY in one way or another.
