Hard Decisions At Ubisoft

Ubisoft founder and CEO Yves Guillemot is likely to see U.S. rival Electronic Art's hostile bid for Take-Two Interactive Software as a mixed blessing.

It puts more pressure on Ubisoft, effectively controlled by the Guillemot family, to grow its business quickly. In a hit-and-miss industry where typically 80% of the revenue comes from just 20% of the game titles, being big is increasingly important.

So Ubisoft could consider bidding for Take-Two itself, though getting caught up in a bidding war with deeper-pocketed EA would be financially daring, if not foolhardy.
