It’s like watching a scary movie with a friend: Visceral on Dead Space 3 co-op

Dead Space 3 launches in Australia very soon — February 7, to be exact — and it’s bringing with it a whole new approach to co-op, where the game dynamically responds to the presence of another player by adjusting the storyline and levels to suit. games.on.net recently had the chance to sit down with producer Shereif Fattouh to discuss how they’re going to keep the game scary even with another player around to comfort you. (Dead Space 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Correct me if I'm wrong but he didn't even say the words "it's like watching a scary movie with a friend" during the video. Don't mislead people.

Around the 4:35 mark, Shereif discusses how he likens the experience to watching a horror movie alone or with a friend.

He doesn't say those exact words in the title, which is why it's not put in quotation marks.

The title is in no way misleading.

It is misleading...

He's explaining that watching a horror movie with a friend creates a different experience. A different experience in Co-op is what they're trying to accomplish.

I found this demo to be laughable to be honest

Nothing beats Left 4 Dead 2 co op for sheer fun.. not really for scares though, i think Doom 4 could deliver on that front, but ONLY if it's like Doom 1-2 and not Doom 3 and has great online modes.

Quake 5 also has a big chance of being very scary, apparently they are going back to the style of Quake 1 which i have to admit is a lot scarier looking than Quake 2 onwards.

If i watch a scary movie with a friend i laugh and find the movie hilarious.

Dead Space and Bioshock are my two favorite new IPs this gen.

Neither of these great games need co-op or multiplayer.

To all game publishers and developers : Stop trying to cater to the Call of Duty fanbase.
Just because your game has a "now with tacked on multiplayer / co-op " tagged on the back of the game box and ads doesnt mean the casual COD crowd will buy your game.
