Speculating the Next Gen Operating Systems

Wow, 2013 almost feels like it’s already over. Time certainly flies. But as this year draws to a close, we are reminded that new consoles from Sony and Microsoft are likely to be arriving soon. There’s been a lot of talk about specs but that’s an endless conversation of technobabble. Instead, let’s talk user interface: operating systems. Dashboards! Nintendo has shown their hand here- The Wii U OS is an evolution of the Wii’s “channel” setup. But what will we see from the next Xbox and Playstation? Today, Laser Lemming investigates this very, very important question. (Microsoft, Next-Gen, PS3, Sony, Xbox 360)

The next xbox will go (look wise) with something similar to the windows phone/tablet (quite similar to what they have already)

Sony I do not know but I hope it is the XMB. I have never understood why some people do not like it. It isn't really pretty but it is so simple and idiot could use it. It also suits my anal needs of things being organised logically.

The XMB is very efficient in design. I just hope they manage to speed it up and make more of it accessible when you're playing a game on the PS4.

It's not that "efficient" considering the fact you don't have an overview of all your items. You need to "scroll" trough your items in order to find it. This only applies when you have large set of items though.

But hey, i'm sure you'll defend it saying otherwise. To each his own.

hey sidar, why do you have one bubble?

wait....whats that...you can't respond oh yeah..

Hopefully there is a hybrid of VITA's bubble OS and XMB so both d-pad interface and touch navigation can be used.

Metro offline is almost the same thing dude
only without the ads lol

I think the Wii/Wii U's channel design is pretty efficient for navigation purposes. I just wish it was faster to change the system settings.

The Metro design, to me, adds a lot of fluff that doesn't need to be there. The original 360 dashboard was very efficient.

Simple and fast is the way to go. And allow for lots of customisation options.

I kind of hope the new Xbox Os is more lkike the phone. Fast very slick and completely customiseable. Hate having to bugger about with going to pins and the video section when i just want to watch netflix.
