Is Nariko OP? A closer look at one of PS All-Stars' deadliest combos

PSU writes:

"Some of a truly great fighting game's most worthwhile secrets aren't immediately obvious, and characters that seemed balanced and valuable at first glance can become totally OP (or utterly worthless) given enough time on the competitive scene. With that in mind, I'd like to take a closer look at one of PlayStation All-Stars' quickest and most combo-centric fighters: Nariko, of Heavenly Sword fame. The female warrior - destined to lead her people to the promised land - is a perfect match for a game about kicking the living crap out of friends and enemies, but one move string in particular makes her highly effective - perhaps TOO effective - at doing so." (PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, PS Vita, PS3)

I think they have Nariko confused with Kratos.

I don't know how they define OP
but Kratos sure is the ones most people are using online as his attacks are easy and powerful at the same time! Nariko is not OP it's just some people are really good at using her!

i think its all about skill. i have seen OP players with all kind of characters.
badz149  +   586d ago
skill is 1 thing
but spamming the same moves that cannot be countered over and over is not what I would call skill

Perhaps the article writer kept running into skillful Nariko-players and he got so mad that he had to make an article claiming she was OP to ventilate.

Kratos is definitely the most OP character in the game no doubt no questions asked. The only people that should be using him are beginners. Anyone else using him shame on you.
TheTwelve  +   586d ago
Yeah, Kratos is OP because you can suck and still dominate with him.

However, I've seen some amazing Nariko players...they're able to fight and gain AP with her while barely touching the ground, therefore making it really hard to hit her.

She's not overpowered. You have you be skilled to achieved those combos.

She is probably the most balanced, combo heavy character in the whole game. You actually have to learn combos...

Not Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square HADES AWAITS!.... ONE MORE TIME!

Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square Forward+Square HADES AWAITS!....

Im no good with Nariko. I prefer Raiden, PaRappa, Radec, Toro, and Dante. But people ive played with online arent cheap and annoying spammers. Nariko is a legit good character and is definitely for people who like to put a lot of time into learning moves.

Hahaha so true.
I always dread that sound! (HADES AWAITS)
Kratos gets his level one super far too easy, like you said it's just forward and square and he has a very good range and he's good close range too.
I'm also bumping into a lot of Cole's just spamming me constantly from afar over and over again, then chucking some kind of stun/freeze ball that stops you from moving for ages then he level one supers me. It's really cheap. I've noticed a lot of spammers in general lately to be honest.

I always send a message to someone using Big Daddy, Heihachi, Nariko or Toro saying keep it up because you actually have to have skill to master those characters instead of cheap spam moves.

Superbot are aware of Kratos and that he will be more balanced in the next patch.

Yeah, she may have some of the best combos, but they take a long time to learn how to use properly, and she needs them, because her supers kinda suck. Raiden needs to be nerfed, there is an infinite combo he can use, and its just the same two moves over and over again. In 2v2 against two toros, I've had it where they got one kill then used these two different moves to fly up in the air and out of our reach for the rest of the match. Those things need to be nerfed... I don't actually have that big of a problem with kratos. If you roll behind him when he does that side square, you usually have a good opening for a level 1 super, depending what character you are using.

I will kick much ass with Toro.

damn I want to play good with Toro too. I still dont have it figured out ^^
Bowzabub  +   586d ago
Break down and learn his moves and combos. He has a nasty sidekick too.

Paparappa is broke. But I usually have no problem with any characters in a 1v1.

I really wish nariko was OP because my 2v2 partner plays Nariko and he sucks ass!!!
