4 Things PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale 2 Needs
Leviathyn.com | A big fan of PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale, Cassidee considers four things the game’s eventual sequel needs to include in order to improve its overall quality.

"4 Things PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale 2 Needs"
Well 1 really. SALES
I predicted the sales of PSABR. everyone on here was saying "pre-ordered" "day 1 for me" "GOTY" and it fell to the same fate Sorcery did after the "GOTY" Hype.
Okay TROLL , you obviously haven't played the game. This game sold well within excpectations of Sony. It's nearly beating Smash Bros Brawl in worldwide weekly sales on VGChartz. Not to mention sales will triple once the upcoming DLC is released and I guarantee you Crash , Syro and Snake are on their way too. This game hasn't even begun to peak.
1) More PS characters that matter and not just ones for free advertising. Classic Dante, Snake, Cloud, Squall, Zidine, Tidus, Sora, Crash, Spyro, Tombi, Gabe Logan, Lara Croft etc
2) More modes
3) More ways to play the game, for the love of god add an optional health mode so we don't have to rely on supers all the time.
I know Folklore didn't sell a ton (~250k) and I'm personally not interested in PSASBR/Smash Bros type games, I think Ellen & Keats would fit perfectly in that gameplay with all the different folk powers.
I agree with these four. First try was good, but now they have room to expand and grow: i) more modes with more variations outside, and including supers, ii) a much more solid single player with much more interesting trials and challenge modes, iii) a lot more PlayStation characters that I assume they could easily get, not to mention the characters that are practically handed to them (Abe).
The first game was a humble start, and I enjoy the game enough to think that a bigger budget and more resources with what they have so far can take this IP further. It's unfortunate that they aren't at the caliber to have more sway with third party characters like Crash, but if the IP grows strong enough, who knows.
I thought the game was alright and was good for a first try...all the things which were missing I let go because it was the first time they did the game
HOWEVER
If the sequel dosen't live up to the improvments they could easily make then I won't buy it. They are such easy to spot improvments to expand on it the next game that they would be fools to ignore them
I just want optional ways to play the game, the super sysem was a creative way to play but after playing it for a while it's getting boring seeing my fav selected character do the same things over and over again. Let me punch and kick a character off the screen....the supers should be in round PS logo orbs that come every so often...Bronze would be Lv1, Silver would be Lv2, Gold would be Lv3 and Platinum would make you invincible for a few seconds.
" iii) a lot more PlayStation characters that I assume they could easily get, not to mention the characters that are practically handed to them (Abe)"
See they keep saying that some developers didn't want to give them the characters but they were first party developers, if Sony owns them then they really they don't have a choice.
I hope we don't see anymore characters that are just added for advertising reasons...New Dante and Rising Raiden. It was a slap to the face to add someone like Raiden but Snake is no where to be seen...Kojima loves Sony I don't see why he wouldn't give them the character, it dosen't make sense.
I found myself liking PS All Starts a LOT more than I thought I would. Two of my housemates bought copies of it, but one lives (almost permanently) in my PS3 in the living room.
Besides a few minor quirks, it's become one of my favourite console games of the last year or two.
for it to have a health system it would need to redesign the stages to allow you to fall off of it otherwise how do you send someone to thier death like super smash bros?
Being knocked off the stage isn't really required. They could have health bars and the characters die and revive the same way they do now, the only difference is when the player hits 0 health they die.
It really seemed like this first entry was more a proof to see if Sony can make a fighting game that peolle enjoy. And despite modest sales, so far, Peolle absolutely love this game, me included.
Now that hey have a solid base to work from, they can keep adding layers of icing on the top
I think SuperBot and Sony Santa Monica did a great Job on PlayStation All-Stars. They should do the sequel and since they already have the ground work done, it should only get better.
Wanna know why he continues to troll? Because people like you continue to use up your bubbles replying to him.
ONTOPIC: While it would be cool to have the option of a health system in the next game or off-stage kills , I don't think it could work considering the nature of the game. They would need to do a complete overhaul. Right now, the game was built around super moves and to make anything else work, a lot of changes would have to be made at the core. I'm not sure if SuperBot would be willing to do that. They wanted to do something different and I'm afraid they might stick to it even if they know it's not the best decision.
For the current one to sell, or else SONY won't make a number 2. If vgchartz is to be believed, it has sold less than 400K and is out of most top 10 charts, even ps3 only charts.
500k huh? That's actually pretty good. It should reach a million in no time, but you'll still have people say the game flopped and bombed despite that lol.
Like you said, according to vgchartz, combined sales of both ps3 and ps vita for the same game equates to half a million or so sales :D Its on its way to a million :)
Youre confusing Sony with Microsoft. Sony looks at a franchise long term and sees where it can go And dont kill it until they give it a real chance to grow. Alan Wake anyone?
Honestly, I don't know anybody that even wants a sequel to this game. Weird that this article was even made haha.
Anyways, I think it needs a better damage system. The whole idea of killing people with only super-moves is a very silly thing to be honest. It may be casual fun for for a little while, but after that you start to realize that the game doesn't really have that much substance.
I could tell that there was something wrong with the game, before it came out. When the trailers came out and everyone discovered that there was no health bar or health counter, that made me facepalm automatically.
There are tons of people who want a sequel. There are a lot of people who enjoyed the first game, and a lot of people who thought it was okay but could see the potential.
The super system is fine. It's one of the best thing's about it. It should stay, but it NEEDS other modes too. Best of both worlds. I don't know what you mean by "casual fun" but all-stars has a pretty complex battle system if you put in the effort to learn the combo's.
It didn't bomb at all. It's actually fun. If only you could play it. The game is good you should try it out, but I wouldn't recommend buying a PS3 just for this game alone though.
I played the game. It lacks dept, a good presentation, has spotty hit detection at times and overall it seems to lack polish. 4 player is fun though. It's just my opinion of the game. I knew they wouldn't nail everything the first game anyway. Sorry fanboys but I'm just giving my honest opinion of the game.
more characters are obviously a must for the next game, I need some more female characters as well like selvaria from valkyria chronicles and etna from disgaea. I think more varied modes would be good as well as it gives people more options for how they would like to play,
I agree, more female character's would be cool. Though it is cool they're adding Kat. A Disgaea character is a missed opportunity too. Maybe a Prinny as they're more of the series mascot? But etna would be awesome too.
Lol yeah the whole article can be summed up that quickly. But couldnt you say the exact same things about any other game? Good or bad? None of these points are specific to this game at all.
Some better examples for this and the genre would be: Lobbies, replay channels, match searching during practice mode........
Totally agreed. The story mod was ridiculously disappoointing especially seeing as how they were going to have it that you run through levels and kill enemies from all different Sony games..I can't believe they had that idea and instead went with the most boring piece of poop way to present these amazing characters today..generic fights, static images(with TERRIBLE dialogue) that served a 2/3 of the actual story, and only one interaction PER run through. SO disappointing when they had some of the most amazing characters in all of video games.
Oh yeah an BRING BACK CRASH SPYRO AND CLOUD IN PSASBR 2...And change the friggin name! Title Fight FTW
They just don't have the characters or legacy. Mario, Link, Donkey Kong then you have something like Drake from Uncharted, that one guy from KillZone, Cole fron Infamous, and Sly Cooper. Sony just doesn't have that.
I don't agree with what you said about sly cooper because he is a classic Sony character, him, jak and daxter and ratchet and clank make an excellent trio of classic characters.
Ratchet and Clank is pretty much dead now, same with Sly Cooper, we haven't seen much of Jak. I don't think those franchises will last 15 to 25 years like Nintendo's. Also Mario 25th anniversary against something like a 10th anniversary of "Sly Cooper"... I don't know, something is missing. Nintendo just has a bunch of classics we all grew up with. You hardly ever hear "Man I ran home from school to play Ratchet and Clank!"
that's obviously your opinion then, You love Nintendo but hate Sony like your profile clearly shows. I personally love sly cooper and cherish a game from that whilst another mario doesn't do it for me. It's like how metroid and legend of zelda is a big event for me. your opinion is clouded from bias just like a lot of fanboys. this is made for playstation fans and therefore doesn't cater to you ;) this game just needs to explore more of playstations history because it has a strong one just like Nintendo.
I agree the story needed to be better, all the people saying oh you expected a story in a fighting, just be quiet smash bros, mk, tekken, even soul caliburs arcade have some really good stories, so theres no excuse for psabr not to.
More characters, I agree get rid of the dead weight that have nothing to do with PS like big daddy, and dante, and get crash, spyro, the real dante,cloud,Lara,dart,etc...
More stages definatly, every sequel needs more stages, its a no brainer.
Better balancing, heck yes kratos has the most overpowered chain grab, but they need the heck out of sackboy, then some super just suck
I can mention one: Do not develop it. After the laughable copy from us intellectual gamers of Smash Bros, I think they should know better. The japanese knows art and atmosphere better than anyone.

Better maps
2.More characters.
3.fully rendered cutscenes for the characters storys in arcade.
4.More stages.
5.More unlockables.
The series is only going to get better and better with time, so for the first game in probably a long running series I think they did pretty good.
Now that hey have a solid base to work from, they can keep adding layers of icing on the top
I am so genuinely shocked
/sarcasm

That is a direct quote from Sony.

I enjoy the multiplayer a lot, especially the 2 vs 2 is a blast. Singleplayer is nothing special, I just play it to get the trophies.
I personally can't wait for the new characters. I love 1V1 offline and 2V2 online. I mostly play from my Vita, and have no issues with it.
Anyways, I think it needs a better damage system. The whole idea of killing people with only super-moves is a very silly thing to be honest. It may be casual fun for for a little while, but after that you start to realize that the game doesn't really have that much substance.

So yeah, I'd like a sequel.
Oh, that's right. You haven't played it. You just continue to troll Sony-related articles.
Your comments really need to improve a lot.
Edit: Man, I wonder how many comments that DESERVE to get marked for trolling WILL get marked?
... and they still persist in saying it's a Sony fanboy haven.
BETTER STORY MODE
A MORE VARIED ROSTER
BETTER BALANCING
EVEN MORE STAGES
Some better examples for this and the genre would be: Lobbies, replay channels, match searching during practice mode........

-Better story. explain Polygon man, his powers, why the characters want it, and make rivals more important
-Better trophies. it shouldnt be so easy to plat a fighting game
-more "classic" characters, such as Crash. it would be awesome to see Sony vs Marvel or something as DLC
These idiots are the ones that will kill Sony by letting terable games get a pass, and letting Sony slip to the bottom and stay there.
