Thirteen Reasons I Enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII

"For as long as I can remember I have been a Final Fantasy player and fan with my first entry into the series being Final Fantasy VII. To be honest, I never beat VII though I have always wanted to. In fact, the very first Final Fantasy title that I actually finished all the way through was the next one in the series and my personal favorite; Final Fantasy VIII. I mention that because like VIII, XIII is considered a black sheep of the Final Fantasy family and even though everyone tried to convince me that they were right and XIII was the worst thing to happen since a Tonberry discovered knives (heh heh Final Fantasy joke dur), I'm here to give my side of the argument why I think XIII wasn't as terrible as everyone thought." - Shane Peltzer of Geekenstein.com (Culture, Final Fantasy XIII, PS3, Xbox 360)

The main "hater" point is just the wish to move on, not continually revisit the same world with different mechanics. Characters who shift personalities and/or roles.

It's one of my favorites in the series. I thought the story was fantastic, characters interesting, adored the setting, soundtrack was awesome, and the battle system was amazing.

Sure it might have been a little too linear but it was justified in the story.

Glad to see someone share my love for the game. Actually going to do another playthrough after Ni No Kuni.

@Son_Lee...I totally agree with you.FF-X & XIII are my favorites & I've played all FF since the Super Nintendo.I'm playing XIII again,I like Lightning, the battle system was fast & furious...loved it,the soundtrack was amazing which is something I never really pay attention to in videogames & the graphics & production were superb just like all FF games.Yes XIII had it's minor flaws but I had no problem because of the story I got what Square were doing,it wasn't your traditional FF.I'm ready for FFXV whenever that may be.

Finally, someone with sense! I hate when people on here say things like, "You love FFXIII? You must never have played the originals." First of all, that doesn't matter. Second, I've played ever FF ever released and FFXIII is in my top 5 (#4, actually behind VII, VIII, and X, respectively).

So yeah, the game is amazing and gets a lot of hate for what is in my eyes no reason at all. They act as if every FF game wasn't as linear as this.

Also, Lightning is awesome. She may not be my #1 FF girl like Japan thinks (that honor goes to Tifa), but the fact that people say her personality is of a cardboard box is just ludicrous to me and it makes me believe they either didn't play the whole game or didn't understand it.

Totally agree....I pay no mind to some of these pitiful mindless freaks on this site.like they know what's best for you to play,At first Lightning seems hard & cold but she finally opens up & she's this girl with emotions & feelings,I liked her character & I got what Square was trying to convey.I believe alot of people that whined negatively about XIII didn't play or finished the game.

I would also like to say that I also like FF-X and VIII (VIII is my all time favorite) Now that I've finished XIII I need to play XIII-2 and get ready for Lightning Returns. I'm invested now so I have to see it to the end.
