Nintendo HD Re-Releases For Wii U; A Man Can Dream

Nintendo is no stranger to re-releases. The GameCube exclusive Resident Evils, Pikmin, and Metroid Prime were re-published on the Wii with what some would consider marginal improvements. Ocarina of Time was on the 3DS with 3D support. So, here is what Nintendo should do: give the HD treatment to some of our favorite Wii titles, and then some.

Yeah, I'd love to see this.

Ugh, that is one of the things I disliked the most on the PS3.

Releasing the exact same game only with support for higher resolutions is a terrible thing to me. I would rather that money and time be spent on bringing us and actual new game.

If the game was really good to begin with then ti doesn't need to be re-released. The only circumstance I can see this being beneficial under is for games that are no longer being sold retail like old N64 and SNES. Of course, in those cases it would just be better to re release the entire game.

Actually HD collections are very profitable with their low development costs and high return. It is why Sony has persuade this more. There HD collections sell very well.

I personally like them when they are done right. The worst one was the Medal of Honor: Frontline remastered edition. Nothing had changed nor were any of the problems in the original game fixed.

They added updated controls :)

I never encountered any problems when I played it, would you mind elaborating please? (I'm curious :) )

As for the worst HD collections, I'd say its a tie between Prince Of Persia and Splinter Cell, both are by Ubi and both are broken and ugly as hell.

@ Dark Overlord

I reviewed it here
http://n4g.com/channel/meda...

but essentially I summed up the game like this

"Well If you can't play/do not have access to the original game and want another go at Frontline then you will like this game. If you are looking for a re-masted edition the do not buy. Nothing has changed from this game and the same old bugs are still present. It is still fun to play mowing down Nazi's but just do not expect a upgraded version. If you pick up and play the original PS2 copy you could save yourself some money because to call this "a re-masted edition" is a joke."

I really like the HD collections, but only when they're done right (GoW, Sly, Ratchet and Clank, MGS etc) and not a p*ss poor attempt at a cheap cash grab (Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, DMC etc).

We don't need to have last gen games being put back on shelves when they are already still on it in most places.

F-zero GX , Mario galaxy 1 and 2 , Windwaker , Mario sunshine , Luigi's mansion , and many others would look awesome if they were retextured in native 1080p.

Kaiou1285d ago

Or you can just download Dolphin and enjoy HD with antialising right now without having to wait for nintendo to double cash on uninformed fans. unless we are talking about a complete remake.

Not everyone have the setup to run Dolphin smoothly... or at all.
