Nintendo Combining Handheld and Home Console Hardware Divisions

In an effort to create more innovative and attractive products, Nintendo Co. will combine the development segments for its home video game consoles and handheld game devices. The decision comes on the heels of recent releases of the Nintendo 3DS portable system in February 2011 and the Wii U home console last month. With more people using their smartphones and tablets for entertainment via the Internet, including games and videos, Nintendo aims to come up with next-generation game systems that will turn heads. (3DS, Nintendo, Wii U)

This is what Sony has done with the vita and ps3, um how about if they use the dam pad I paid for on the wii u first get me some games so I can play my wii u. I'm starting to get mad for my purchase.

Really? What games did you get with your WiiU and what type of games you like as I have MarioU, ZombieU, Sonic All stars racing, Nintendo Land and COD keeping me going back to my WiiU and at the moment they are stopping me from playing Halo and Forza Horizon and PSASBR.

I cant wait to see what Ninetedo do with the 3DS and WiiU as I see Sony doing more with the PSV and PS4 when its released and also MS doing more between WP8, Windows 8 and Xbox.

Think my biggest issue soon is I will have way to many choices.

Hybrid portable console next gen.

No. That would lose market share.

A handheld and portable in the 9th gen which look quite similar and link up perfectly. The Next Nintendo handheld will have android and will function perfectly as the controller of the next home console.

They will aesthetically look similar and use as similar chip sets as possible in order to make Porting easier So more Monster Hunter Ultimate style games can exist.

All they are doing is streamlining their 2 divisions into one to increase productivity.
There will be 100% be a Nintendo Home console and handheld once more in Nintendo's next gen.

Nintendo is kinda breaking away from Sony and Microsoft and doing their own thing , and I like it.

isn't that the wii U already?

IMO, no, as you can't play WiiU whilst (for example) being driven in a car, like you can 3DS and Vita.

the wii U is the closest to a hybrid console-portable, for me. otherwise it's just a portable with an HDMI out or a cloud based system.

Good? I guess? It sounds like a lot of people in one department.

Could be Good or Bad.

Sometimes bringing two divisions together makes them both stronger, as one; sometimes it just kills off the thinking/ideas of one of the divisions.

Hopefully it goes well, Nintendo is reported to have an idea corporate-culture -

-Despite the fact that Miyamoto is always kicking the tea tables over ;).

it means nintendo has a lot of games in development where the two systems communicate with one another...after all they are bringing miiverse to the 3ds...so i expect the games and gamers to benefit from this.

Would be a smart idea actually. Could be constantly bouncing ideas off each other and probably come up with some pretty forward thinking and innovative products / devices / tech.
