Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is ‘Metal Gear Ninja’ (OXCGN Preview)

OXCGN:

"Revengeance is set 4 years after Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots but it is by no means a sequel of any sort.

The game is a spin-off and not part of the Metal Gear Solid series, so if you’re looking for a game with heavy use of stealth stick to the Solid series.

What Revengeance does provide, however, is massive amounts of slaughterous swordplay with witty dialogue.

If there was an award for the “craziest and bad-ass opening level/sequence” then Revengeance would win that award hands down." (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, PS3, Xbox 360)

I'm still not convinced I'll like this, but I'm curious to have a go with it.

It's not for me since i'm more into the traditional MGS

I was never a MGS fan, having tried the others but never finished them, but I loved MGS4.

I agree. This is totally different. But it's good to see more 'action' type games.

I'm sure the gameplay will be great but I just don't like the fact that is so over-the-top is almost like watching Vanquish and the story-telling looks like it will be as corny and cheesy as Bayonetta. I would have liked if the game was kept more grounded to reality like a Metal Gear game is supposed to be rather than going more for the anime-ish/weeaboo presentation.

The new trailer looks really cool BTW but that ain't Metal Gear just like the new DmC ain't a real Devil May Cry game: http://www.youtube.com/watc... And I'm not saying it for the gameplay but for the overall presentation when it comes to cinematics and stuff.

It's nice to see some hack 'n slash games coming. It looked like a largely shooter landscape for consoles in 2013 otherwise.

As a devoted MGS fan, I'm on the fence.

I'm obligated to buy it because it has Metal Gear in the title, but I don't know if I'm going to enjoy it and regret the purchase.

Demo should be releasing soon on consoles I think. The one that game with ZOE hd was amazing. Each fight was intense and the boss fight was great. One tip though: master blocking quick, it's not only a huge help in battle but it ties the entire combat together. For me it was a little tricky to get down but I did during the boss fight and it helped so much.

I can't wait for this game. Kojima pro written story and platinum games quality gameplay mixed together beautifully. It's not MGS but it's not suppose to be. I've been a metal gear fan since the first game and will support this 100%.

Would love for more info on ground zeroes though.

Demo comes out on January 22, its the one that came with the ZOE HD Collection which I've played numerous times. I will say the controls for this game are perfect.

I can't wait. I love all types of games. From traditional MGS games with stealth and sneaking to Hack n Slash games like Bayonetta or God of War. TO me this MGS R game is the best of both worlds from what I've been hearing. ANd platinum games is at the helm. So I'm all on bored. Day 1 purchase for me.

If you are on the fence. Then just wait and let the gamer videos and opinions speak for themselves
