Best Supporting characters from the Legend of Zelda

GamersBliss.com writes: "The Legend of Zelda has been around for sometime now, allowing Nintendo to create some of the best characters known in any kind of fictional world. From faeries, Zoras, Gorons and Dragons the LoZ has a variety of different character types. Yet it isn’t only the gameplay that makes all of these games special. It is the way the amount of characters differ from each other, and no we aren’t talking about Tingle either… *shivers. We are talking about awesome badass cast of supporting characters that needed only one small role in the Zelda franchise to make a lasting impression."

That Happy Mask shop guy is crazy!

zerocrossing1256d ago

I loved his part in Majoras Mask "it seems you've met with a terrible fate" great that line.

zerocrossing1256d ago

I would say Sheik, unforgetable.

Canary1256d ago

I would say Link.
Or Princess Zelda.

Depending on your point of view.

Beyond that?

Any Goron. Love those guys.

Supporting characters implies anyone but Link since he is the main character.

Princess Zelda is a good choice, I really enjoyed her character in Wind Waker.

Well, Link is the protagonist... but he's NOT the main character. He's not really a character, per se--he's a vehicle for the player to superimpose his or herself into the narrative.

A literal link between the player and the game world.

And so if he's not the main character... who is? The obvious choice would be the titular Princess Zelda... but she usually plays only a mariginal, facilitating role in the story (aside from wonderful change-of-pace in Spirit Tracks) and is sometimes absent from the games entirely (ALttP, Majora's Mask, etc.).

So, really: the Zelda doesn't have a main character. Everyone in the game is a supporting character... except for the antagonist/final boss (usually).

@canary
no you got it all wrong link is a timeless hero and each link is different

cause if you say that link is actually zelda then that mean that zelda made all that effort to find the master sword, and gather all those clue to find the dungeon, found out that ganon herself and herself again are the triforce(2/3 triforce?)and beat the crap out of ganon to finally rescue herself, which is crazy(and all this without people noticing she was her all along!

@n4f: I'm just going to assume all of those "disagrees" came from people like you who, despite reading my post, didn't actually manage to comprehend any semblance of meaning from the words.

Are you possibly drunk? Or not a native-English speaker?

Either way, I've re-read my post and I think it's quite clear.

EDIT:
@THESHAUNZY: Wasn't ALttP the one that took place on the island, with the Wind Fish? Maybe I'm getting my titles confused.

There are a -lot- of Zelda games, after all.
