Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Review | GodisaGeek

GodisaGeek: "It has been a long time since I have played a game of this type and been bowled over in such dramatic fashion. The desire to play more, to spend some more time in this other world with my new pal Mr Drippy, was almost overwhelming each time I put the control pad down. It is a game that people will get a thrill out of simply watching in motion, and has a wonderfully universal story that touches the basic emotions within us all. This is a title that is sure to be amongst the discussions when the best games of 2013 are pondered. It may just be my favourite ever role-playing game, and is unquestionably the best looking; one of the graphical high points for the PlayStation 3." (Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, PS3) 10/10

Wow, very high praise.

When he handed his review in, our guy said "This is the easiest 10 out of 10 I've ever given".

I've played just under 30 hours, I can see why he said that. It's just...magnificent.

I was on the fence after the demo, but I think with such high praise I can't afford to miss this game. I've loved RPGs since Final Fantasy 1 back on Nintendo, and this looks very reminiscent of the old school goodness that's been lacking lately from RPGs this generation. (Not to say there haven't been some great ones, just not ones with that old school feeling.)

I'd expect nothing less from a Level-5/Studio Ghibli collaboration. It's obvious that JRPGs like this are Level-5's specialty. The game instantly reminded me of Dragon Quest VIII, and from the looks of it, it's living up to the high expectations.

Yup as expected. The Persona 4 Golden of the PS3 this game looks to be critic wise. 7 more days til an adventure of a lifetime begins!

I'd like to say that I'm surprised, but I'm just not.

The quality spoke for itself from the first screenshot.

Yea..sometimes you can just tell when the extra mile has been walked. The amount of detail in this game is what should happen on EVERY game made.

Very well written review good job. This game continues to amaze me in every way. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Another quality exclusive for the PS3. Well done Sony and well done Level-5.
GodisaGeek  +   456d ago
Thanks, that kind of thing means a lot to us :-)

I agree with Riderz, fabulously well-written review. The author seems to have done a fair amount of research too, which is commendable.

My excitement for a game of this magnitude cannot be quelled. Bring on Feb 1st!!!

I hope this game sells really well. Level 5 are the new SE in my opinion. My only complaint is that I have to wait until February ...

Amazing !! Will you guys talk about the game on the podcast next monday? The wait due to the week delay is unbareable!!

Thanks :)
GodisaGeek  +   456d ago
We're going to try, but if not, I believe Sean (who reviewed it) is going to do a one-off special with Adam at some point.
Kinger8938  +   456d ago
Sounds good keep it up chaps! Thanks

I've never been able to get into jrpg's like final fantasy or white knight etc, but something about this game just seems so good that I think I might have to pick it up. Being as its basically an interactive ghibli movie I can't see myself getting bored of it like I do with other rpg's.
gamedebater  +   455d ago
Remember Lost Odyssey?

Yea, that was the ONLY jrpg I've played since the new gen.

I'm considering Ni No but I'm afraid it might be too easy for my liking.

Can anyone give me a combat impression?
How deep is it and challenging?

@gamedebater
oakshin  +   455d ago
play the demo its good u have to actually use the defend command and its a thoughtful combat system
gamedebater  +   455d ago
I did, but when i went to the field i was 1 shotting everything. i was hoping the same tactical-ness from bosses also fro lower enemies ect.

you know that good feeling comming across a rare enemy and having a challenge but prevailing?

i miss that
oakshin  +   452d ago
yea i dont think u can discredit the game on the demo being easy demos almost always set u up for a cake walk and me personal i cant trust demos anymore after dragons dogma that demo was bad but the game was awsome

i understant ur hesitation no1 wants 2 waste money so go with what u thinks best me i use gamefly so i play everything lol with no risk
gamedebater  +   450d ago
