Podcast: Why Ouya, Steambox, and Shield Threaten Consoles

Clearly, the big news of the week is what’s been happening at CES: the announcement of and impending launch of a whole bunch of different pieces of PC or Android hardware that are taking direct aim at the living-room gaming business. From left to right there’s the Xi3 Piston, meant for playing Steam Big Picture mode, the Ouya and Nvidia’s Project Shield. Could one of these, or something like them, be what you’re doing most of your TV gaming on in a few years’ time?

The story is too old to be commented.

No the steambox is an uprgadable console, a fact that may hamper it's desirability with people on release. The other 2 don't threaten consoles in any way. The people that buy those for the android games wouldn't buy/play normal consoles.

The only way I will stop buying the Playstation and Xbox consoles is when Forza and Gran Turismo are no longer developed for the consoles.
