If Anybody Can Mess Up Final Fantasy X HD, It's Square Enix

On the one hand, it seems impossible to screw it up. All you're doing is applying an HD coat to an existing game. But these guys can mess up ANYTHING. (Final Fantasy X, PS Vita, PS3)

I can't say I disagree.

True, but Square developed Final Fantasy X, so I can't imagine it'll get that bad... That is, so long as they don't make Yuna anything like her X-2 self.

Thing is Square Enix is not Squaresoft. And even though FFX was made during the switch over, those in charge have only shown that they've distanced themselves from how they once made games.

OMG its literally just updating all the visuals. Everything else will be the same. This was confirmed back when this was announced!

And are you saying there's no way they can mess it up, or that they're taking too long to actually show anything from such a "simple" job?

Even if people dont like some of the choices of projects, SE has a lot of other projects going on right now too.

They're pleasing most of the KH fanbase with 1.5HD, they have LR:FFXIII for the XIII fans, and since i know someone will complain about it, FFvsXIII for pretty much everyone at this point, AND the entire restructuring of FFXIV. I may be missing something but SE seems a bit busy atm.

And you cant blame stuff like TWEWY:SR because that was handled by h.a.n.d. with supervision by SE. In fact, most of the recent ports are handled by others, and supervised by SE. Plus the entire remodeling of a game as large as FFX using something like the Luminous engine would obviously take quite a while too. Maybe not 2 or 3 years, but a year and a half tops, so its not just a 'simple job.'

Im just saying that people should be patient, which i know wont be a valid excuse, even i'll admit that vsXIII is taking longer than it should. But really if you wanted FFX again so badly, go play the original, for early PS2, that game is freaking gorgeous.

I know stuff like LR:FFXIII were conceptualized after FFX HD, but really, FFXIII has been making them money, so of course we're going to get more of it. And honestly how can you mess up an HD port when really all your doing is replacing models?

It just seems like SE has bitten off a lot more than they can chew. So lets just wait it out until one thing gets finished. Then the development of the others will slowly increase since there can be more focus on less projects. I hope ive proven my point.

They aren't using the Luminous Studio for FFX HD. There was originally a rumor that they were using the Crystal Tools engine from FF XIII, but so far it's just rumors as SE has never said whether they were switching engines or not.

So far all they've really said is "The game is being developed like a high-definition remaster, but the visuals will look much better compared to the original".

Meant to use Luminous as just an example. Didnt necessarily mean they are using it. But hell thatd be freaking gorgeous!

I'm sure it will be fine. Their remakes of FF games on DS and iPad have been great.

I wouldn't mind them making the laugh scene more natural, but I think that is asking too much.
