Examiner - A Wii U review from a Wii hater

Perhaps “hater” is a bit strong, but it is true, I never had much affection for Nintendo’s white, waggle machine. I guess my main problem was that the Wii simply couldn't fulfill its panoply of drunken promises. The motion controls weren't terribly immersive, and before the MotionPlus, they weren’t very accurate. The system’s hardware was outdated before it even came out. Most of the games were garbage, and the ones that weren't belonged to a series of increasingly stagnating franchises. As a core gamer, there just wasn't much there for me. Despite all the Wii’s failures, when the Wii U came out, I ran out and bought one. I’ve had it for a while now, and here’s what I think. (Wii U) 4/5

good read, hopefully the load times will be resolved with later games in the series.

It's possible, as a developer myself, I know that clumsy middleware can slow down hardware a lot. If that's the issue, it could be resolved.

Best console ever after SNES.

Its a fantastic console. Power wise it might start looking a bit dated in about 2 years when the next gens enter full swing (launch titles will not be light years ahead of what we have now) but for now I'm loving it.

The problem is the Wii-U has shown no signs of being more powerful than a 360 or PS3, so core gamers votes are gonna be hard to get. On saying that, I bought one for myself & it is way better than I thought it would be, but when I get my hands on PS Orbis, it will be obsolete.
Motorstorm (Ps3), Fight Night (360 then PS3), & handfuls of other games decimated PS2 & Xbox1 games.

@Perjoss, so your wrong about how much better PS4 & 720 will be off the bat, as Motorstorm was a PS3 launch game & it looked phenominally better than it's predecessors.
So, saying they won't be light years ahead of what we have now is a falicy & complete load of crap. I believed the crap about PS2 games not being much of an improvement over PS1 games, so I loaded up a PS1 game to see, & it was night & day differences, PS2 games looked beautiful, vibrant, clear & awesome, while PS1 games only looked that good in my memory, as when I fired up my PS1 games they were a blocky, muddy mess compared, & when I 1st played GTA3, I thought, "this can't get any better", I then got Splashdown on my awesome PS2 & thought, "games won't ever look better than this", years later I bought my PS3 & my brain ogasmed at the sight of Motorstorm.
So, not only will there be a noticable difference in games from PS3/360 to PS4/720, it will be a massively noticable difference.
Just check some of the best looking PC games available on high end pc's, & that is what many PS4/720 launch games will look like.
