It’s Sunday, and as usual Square Enix released some information and screeenshots on four new quests that are going to be released on the Japanese version of Dragon Quest X: Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online during the upcoming week.
SE should introduce a quest that has DQX travel to America. That's a pretty long and expensive quest.
Could we just get a proper Dragon Quest numbered sequel please. I mean, IX was pretty good, and I'm sure some people wil enjoy X, but I just want the next big single player DQ. I want to see the evolution of the franchise on a high end console.
I loved DQ VIII. I hope during next gen we get a similar entry in the series. Don't care much for IX or X.
I don't think it's going to happen. DQIX was very much of product of SE wanting to turn the franchise into an MMO, and DQX is the next logical step. They... don't really seem to have a firm grasp of what makes their two biggest franchises popular, and as a consequence are not taking them in the right direction moving forward. But, really, who needs more comments on SE's ineptitude? Let me just say that I echo your sentiments entirely, and I am very anxious to see the 3DS remake of Dragon Quest VII hit North American shores. And, beyond that, I hope we have an eventual DQ8 remake/port as well. ... (Come to think of it, were there remakes of the first three games? Did they ever get released outside of Japan? I've stared playing the first game on PC, but if there's a DS alternative....)
How I wish the good old DQ7 and DQ8 games. DQ7 was melodramatic and well paced while DQ8 was very coherent and outstanding overall. I'm not a portable gamer so I passed on 9. And don't get me started with MMO; I just don't get paying monthly just to play a game that you already paid for. I hope that MMOs next-gen would all be Free-to-Play, but would require microtransaction for some items and such. I hope that on PS4 we get DQ11 as a high-def JRPG. It should be created once again by Level 5. Oh well, Ni no Kuni will be my JRPG of the year for now!
