Leviathyn.com | Ever the butt of jokes within the gaming community, it can be argued that military shooters are becoming the most generic and bland games on the market. What can be done to revitalize it?
... for the USAF United Stupid Armed Forces military to stop using it as a recruitment agent for the so called "Patriots" like Henry Kissinger and Gearge Bush http://www.youtube.com/watc... “Military men are just dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy.” - Henry Kissinger
You Sir, just started Flame Tornado.
Maybe add a bit more consequences to your actions in single-player. Get the player involved in the world instead of being on rails with only one "correct" path. Have choices, multiples ways of approach, an open world in which you do not dominate everything, but are a part of. Give the player a reason to fight for something. As for multiplayer, stop this bickering over K/D ratio. Stop mindless slaughter, give a reason for fighting, reward the player somehow. For example, PlanetSide 2; You fight for outposts, stations and biolabs which give your faction a benefit to resource gain to purchase vehicles and certain equipment. Bring tactics and strategies to more games. The ARMA series are a good example of this. 1 shot to the heart = dead. You need to think for a moment, maintain the element of surprise. Know when to strike.
I love Planetside 2 in that respect. On the surface, one could argue that it's just another FPS game; but when you take a little bit of a deeper look, you see this massive battle of territory control and strategy. Rarely have I ever communicated with any other players, but it's just incredible to see so many people working towards a common goal. I was completely awestruck the first time I played because of the scale of the battle I was apart of. At least 120 of my teammates and I were pushing from territory to territory in an enormous collective army during the night. Airships flew overhead, APCs and tanks took up the rear, and a force of around 40 infantry lead the charge on scout vehicles and foot. Missiles and tracer rounds lit up the night sky like a fireworks display, painting the landscape with amazingly detailed shadows and lighting. We'd move towards a base and completely overwhelm it like an infestation, and in like 15 minutes, we had completely wiped out the other factions in that area. I haven't experienced anything as epic as this in my 15 years of gaming, and I find it hard to imagine anything that can top that. Games like BFBC2 and Battlefield 3 have definitely had moments like that as well, but god damn if Planetside 2 hasn't set my bar high for future FPS titles.
IDK stop trying to copy everything COD does, and be your own original FPS instead. Innovate where COD barely ever does cuz the fans are stupid to buy every GAME.
