The F2P Train: Some Are Struck by It Harder Than Others

GR's Edgar Ocampo writes:

The switcheroo from Pay-to-Play (P2P) to Free-to-Play (F2P) is nothing new in the world of online gaming. It’s an alarming trend that we’ve seen over the years: A subscription-based game falls victim to the “F2P train” and respawns in some purgatorial realm where it’s no longer quite the same way as it used to be (for better or for worse). One such notable MMORPG that met its fate not too long ago was Bioware and Electronic Arts’ (EA) brainchild, Star Wars: The Old Republic (SW:TOR). (f2p, PC, Star Wars:The Old Republic)
