What should be done about violent video games? Nothing

VGW: A tragedy occurred in Newtown, Connecticut, a little more than a month ago, when a disturbed man in his early 20s decided to walk into an elementary school and murder six teachers and 20 first-graders. Predictably, the outrage and pouring of emotion over this madman’s actions has led to finger-pointing with the video game industry being one of the prime targets. Indeed, Vice President Joe Biden and others are meeting on Capitol Hill now to discuss what should be done about violent video games along with guns and violent movies. I can go ahead answer that for them now: Nothing. At least, not by the government. (Industry)

Let's stop pretending violent games are immune to criticism.

Let's stop pretending that video games are the sources of mass murder.

Let's stop pretending that a committee of old people who know nothing about games, live ensconced in the Washington bubble and are only trying to show that they will do "something" know how to solve the issue of violent games and will do so in a way that does not stomp on civil liberties.

They aren't, but as an art form we can't allow them to become censored by those ignorant fools who truly know nothing of the medium and who are looking to shift the blame.

The problem isn't the violent games, no sane person just goes out and commits violence after playing a violent game, it's the unbalanced individuals who commit violent crimes and then blame their actions on these games.

Blame the lack of help for the mentally ill, Iv watched violent films and played violent games since I was young and it has in no way affected me negatively.
