4 Things in the Gaming Industry That Have Turned Their Backs on Their Fans

Don’t we all get frustrated when we have a favorite game or publisher or even console that doesn’t quite live up to our expectations? It can feel like we got slapped in the face for throwing our money down on something isn’t what it was perceived to be or did not match what was presented to us in the past. When a game gets popular it is because of the fans, it is because what we were shown was something we enjoyed which is why fans come back to buy next installments of games or the next big console. There have been a few major things in the gaming industry that has made their fan base feel betrayed by a company’s actions; leaving gamers upset around the world. Out of the handful of reasons to feel upset by a certain game some have abandoned everything they made themselves to be, abandoned their fans to get a step ahead with money. When thinking about getting ‘thrown under the bus’ we are sure a few choice names in the gaming industry come to mind but which ones are the most deceiving? (EA, Nintendo, PC, PS3, Saints Row 2, Saints Row: The Third, Tomb Raider 2013, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360)

The disappointment I feel with Saints Row makes me sad every day. I hang on to the last hope with Saints Row 4 following what Saints Row 2 made but know with the whole "Enter the Dominatrix" thing it won’t be what the true fans want. Guess I will be relying on GTA V to get my gangster fix.

No Activision?

Activision is a vampire but doesn’t really turn their back per-say... Think they publish the same content over and over again; exactly what the players can expect from them. Extremely disappointing but turn backs only sort of.

With advances in technology come different costs, processes, etc. It seems that every gaming company has to struggle or make hard decisions regarding pricing and customer-base. I guess it just depends which way they go. Some definitely did better than others this year.

The Wii wasnt a great console but it seems like the author focused his attention from a lot of really great games. Like he mentions NSMWii but doesnt mention Galaxy? It's just a little off and comes off as butthurt.

really tomb raider?

how can a game that's not out yet be "turning its back" on the fans? The storyline of the game is supposed to be how lara went from a regular woman and transforms into the "headstrong and brave" character you know and apparently love. I think an orgin story would be great as long as its done right. And so far the game looks like it will be great.

And if your really that mad about her being made to look more realistic instead of like a pile of fake tits walking around, you prob have worse problems than video games. Get a girlfriend bro, video game boobs arent that cool.

The article was written by a women if that makes any difference.
As for the Tomb Raider reboot I think it looks awful.
There is nothing in that game that looks or feels like a Tomb Raider game.
I played the demo at the Eurogamer Expo and it was very dull and felt too much like Uncharted instead of the old Tomb Raider games.

To be fair when i first played the Uncharted games it felt like I was playing a revamped tomb raider, with some obviously different characters of course.

But i dont see that being a bad thing really they were always similar games and I like the style so I will probably like it.

I am looking forward to Tomb Raider and love Saints Row The Third. :-\

Can't wait for Tomb Raider! It is almost like an Uncharted with a girl but now 360 gamers get a chance to play.
