Minecraft: Pocket Edition Outsold Minecraft PC in 2012

John Bedford (Modojo): The Pocket Edition of indie mega-sensation Minecraft was purchased a staggering 5,899,727 times across the iOS and Android app stores in 2012. This compares to a 'mere' 4,177,843 copies of the PC version sold during the same period. (Android, iPad, iPhone, Minecraft, PC)

Dude is printing money at this point. Props to him and the team for such a huge success. I don't like the game at all but it's nice to see something fresh and different succeed.

wtf? Bad numbers I guess. Is the mobile version a full game like pc or is it just a cheap mobile version?

Let's just say the mobile version is even more watered down than the Xbox version. I own the mobile version just because I enjoy playing it on PC and thought it would be nice having a portable version, but I can barely bring myself to play it. If it's doing well for them though then more power to them. Just means longer support for PC if it's making them money.

I actually prefer the 360 version, to me it was made for console and couch gaming, playing with friends in split-screen is the best way the game can be played.

I can see that being nice I won't argue about that. But it would just be hard for me to go back so far update wise and being so limited with map size personally. I still play it with friends but I understand it wouldn't be as convenient for most people, I have 3 PCs for people to play on but not everybody does. If I owned an Xbox I'd probably buy it anyway just for the reason you said. I like having things to do with friends and family when they come over.

I bought it for 30 cents on sale even though I don't play it, out of curiosity. PC Minecraft is still 20 euros.

PS vita version hopefully ? and the mobile version is simply crap compared to pc , all i want is to be able to build a cart and go for one awesome rollercoaster ride

How about porting it to everything? I'd like for that game to be available on any platform, especially if they put it on the iOS app store.
