When Did This Become The Time For Deals?

Take a moment and look to your favorite video game retailors. You’ll notice something they all have in common: sales. It’s not Black Friday and it’s not the summer time sale. So what is it? (3DS, PC, PS Vita, PS3, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360)

Yeah I've noticed that this past week has been great for video game shopping.

Also Gamestops steal of the week is great. Get a pre-owned Vita for $150, but there's a catch but I can get one for that price! :)

Because they were going to lose money.

I've been looking to get XCOM at a decent discount, but haven't been able to find a real deal.

I got it for $15 from Amazon, with that $5 off promotion and a sale price of $19.99. Guess you missed your chance.
TruthbeTold  +   129d ago
Damn. Well, I hope you enjoy it. I hear it's excellent, and I will be playing it at some point.

@Truth: it's... all right. I've only spent an hour or two with it (been too busy with Sleeping Dogs, which I also got for around $15) but it seems like a fairly average squad-based strategy game. The mechanics of play are solid, but the story/characters/setting are generic at best.

The lack of any sort of map editor (f)or UGC, coupled with the fact that the UI is built around gamepads don't really help things.

Pretty sure there's a (small) Steam sale coming up soon for Easter, and later their Spring Sale, so I imagine you'll be able to find it cheap soon enough. Remember to check GreenManGaming and Amazon.com, as they are actually competing with Steam sales these days and will often sell games that activate on Steam.

It's a typically slow season for shopping right now. Sales help get people in the store.

Most companies have to sell off their stock for tax reasons. It's not uncommon at all to get great deals on anything this time of year.

Retailers is spelled wrong
Anyway, it's retailers getting rid of excess inventory post-Christmas. It's not rocket science, happens every year.
