Crafting the Horrifying World of Siren, Out on PSN Tuesday

The SIREN project started in the autumn months of the new 21st century. I was very fortunate to have been surrounded by a very talented team of people on my team. Together with Game Director Keiichiro Toyama, Scenario Writer Naoko Sato, and Art Director Isao Takahashi, I sat down to discuss concepts. We then extended the discussions to excellent creators both internally and externally for a collaborative production effort.

What is the horror series already on PSN? It has a handful of episodes... I thought that was Siren.

Pozzle4114d ago

That was Siren: Blood Curse which is a remake (of sorts). They're talking about the original PS2 game here.

I wish ps+ came with free ps2 games too. Some of the psn games they give us suck. I'd love to give Siren a try.

I semi-enjoyed PS3 Siren episodes..although it didn't engage me like The Walking Dead Season 1 game.

Maybe give this a look when it becomes PS Plus $0.00

*Edit

I really can't justify paying for all these PS2 games individually when B.C. should have been universal to all PS3's (thanks Sony!) and the fact that Gaikai will host these PS2 games this year as a stream2play delivery.....

Jus sayin :0)

cervantes994114d ago

All PS3s were backward compatible but nobody wanted to pay for it so they took it out.

Just sayin!

Dark_Overlord4114d ago (Edited 4114d ago )

I paid the extra for it (launch day) but it failed 3 years later, and by then Sony wanted £135 to give me a refurbished one with a 6 month warranty and no BC :(

I was genuinely hoping the rumours of that external add on (the ethernet port one) were true so I could get BC back, shame it wasn't :(

Welshy4114d ago (Edited 4114d ago )

I still have a collection of my favourite PS2 games, so it made me sad they became redundant when i upgraded to a slim =/

The launch PS3 with BC was a classic case of people who didn't even own or want a PS3 complaining it was too expensive, but when it was taken out and the price was cut, they STILL didn't want it because the BC was removed...

You just can't win with some crowds.

PS Plus Premium includes one of the best PS2 games in its line-up

The all new PS Plus is here and it has an absolute gem of horror game waiting for you.

PS Plus now offers three membership tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. The latter comes with all the perks you could ask for, and is the priciest of the bunch. One of these benefits is cloud streaming access to a whole horde of OG PlayStation, PS2, PS3, PS4, and PSP games.

Nestled amongst the PS2 titles is Siren. Or Forbidden Siren, depending on which region you're in. Released in 2003, some of you will definitely have slept on this one. Because you were either napping in a crib somewhere, or lining up at the spermatozoa starting line. But now's your chance to catch up with the rest of us, for less than $20 a month.

Well it was on PS Now for a long time, so were a lot of games. Looks good though.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH657d ago

Personally I didn’t like it all that much. Not a bad game just wasn’t for me.

Bathory666657d ago

I’m with you there. It was borderline unplayable due to the controls. Try the remake. It fixes everything about the original thank god.

Siren is the type of game I desperately want to enjoy - the gameplay just isn't fun, the game isn't scary, and the puzzles aren't challenging in a cool Silent Hill way, they're just esoteric as hell. I think the idea behind it is ingenious, it just needs better hardware to get off the ground.

monkey602657d ago

Me either. Siren is my kind of game and I bought Blood Curse when it came out on PS3. I absolutely hated it.
I managed to sell it for a nice price when it became rare and some started to see it as a collectors item though.

"One of the best PS2 games"..? I don't even recall this one, but if it has similarities to Silent Hill I'd definitely check it out

ocelot07657d ago

It was very good and had a silent hill feeling to it. Did you never play Siren Blood Curse on the PS3?

Duke19657d ago

No - another one I completely missed although googling it now and it definitely looks pretty cool

Vanfernal656d ago

It's no coincidence. The director of Siren is the director of the first Silent Hill

jznrpg657d ago

I own it . Good game for sure

cooperdnizzle657d ago (Edited 657d ago )

The chick that wrote this article got a bunch of things wrong. And yeah both games have been on ps now for sometime.

Not to mention the countless other things she gets wrong. Kind of a weird read.

Played both games and think they are okay at best .

Bathory666657d ago

I agree. The ps2 game was mediocre. The remake though, outstanding.
