At this week's Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, Vince Desi and his development team from Running With Scissors were on hand to show off an early build of Postal III. And in spite of its reputation--earned and erroneous-things are looking a bit different this time around.
Already, the game has taken a departure from its open-ended predecessor. Whereas Postal II placed the player in a somewhat-normal world with little to no real goals, Postal III will offer a number of tutorial and goal-based levels.
Desi said that the game will be finished sometime in 2009, and that Postal III has been in earnest development for only 30 days. Those 30 days, however, have yielded a surprisingly complete press demo. Postal III will arrive simultaneously for Windows and Xbox 360, with a Macintosh port also planned, says Desi. He also said that a PlayStation 3 release is being considered, but that the platform would require additional investment and time.
