I just started playing this on the pc, and I'm really enjoying it.
I can't believe it took me this long to get around to it.
kcuthbertson  +   601d ago
2 of those copies are mine =]
DarkFireHawk  +   601d ago
Me too, I bought it first on GoG, and just a last week I bought it on the steam sale :D

Alot of games derseve more sales, wooderbook, sorcery, witcher 2 etc but unfortunatly alot of gamers today, ie kids stick to fifa, cod, battlefield rehashes every year and dont try something new which is a shame imo cause there missing out on some classics, just like the james bond games are awesome. How many gamers played and bought prison break, it got 3 or 4 `s out of 10 on reviews but its a great game, in fact i preferred prison break over gta 4 and skyrim.

Whats wrong with being a kid?

The word kids is being thrown around the net too much I think.
Hell if you play The Witcher you're already a kid with a mature conscience thats all. There's nothing wrong with being a kid.

The issue here is not being a kid but more The Marketing and the slow and broken release from one platform to another.

The hype train left for this game after pc launch.

Yes it is a dam fine game and shame its not seen the kind of success it so deserved.

i am going to get so much disagrees for saying this but i don't care.

Pc gamers always talk about that their games are the best and they praise them like crazy.
But when the sales come out for a great game like this it shows lacking sales.
Come on guys you have to understand why devolpers always try to focus on console first then the PC.

bigger crowed less piracy, this is just my opinion about it.
And i also want to show why devolpers are turning there backs to the pc crowd and that you really can't blame them

but i can't wait for the Witcher 3
Locksus  +   601d ago
But the sales are not lacking. CDPR are pretty happy with the sales overall. Enough to guarantee the inevitable Witcher 3.
pr0digyZA  +   601d ago
Yes this isn't halo numbers but its still really good, keeping it in the heavy rain ballpark of figures. Also they get more profit from the PC version especially as they own GOG.

i didn't know you can earn more on pc.
that is good to know, just a question why do they earn more on the pc? less hassle form publisher, or is it form the fact the development cost is lower
(really a honest question no sarcasm really intriged be this)
pr0digyZA  +   601d ago
You have to pay Sony and Microsoft a share on Consoles, where as PC is open and there is no one to pay. They also own GOG which is a digital retail website like steam where they can get 100% profit.

Whats the difference between piracy and buying used games?

Somebody must have bought the game first to torrent it surely?

But the result is the same... The publisher/developer is not getting the money they potentially could have earned.

Used games require an initial sale? I thought that would be pretty obvious.
GrieverSoul  +   601d ago
Used game were bought once.
They were sold countless of times generating the person saling it some money to buy more new games.

Piracy usually doesnt generate anykind of money. They just rip straight from the developer´s hardrive or in the copying process manufacturer.
sllshrm  +   601d ago
The above two comment are the most stupidest thing I've heard today..

Seriously? Even the crackers buy the game...they don't get it from "developers"..

"They were sold countless of times generating the person saling it some money to buy more new games."

So multi-million companies need more money so they can buy more games? Preposterous!
No they dont buy more games, they spend it on beers and diamonds for their mistresses
iamgoatman  +   600d ago
@sllshrm

Saying the difference between used games and piracy is that ALL games sold as used have to be purchased once whereas pirating doesn't require an initial sale is the stupidest thing you've heard today?

My god, the stupidity, it's overwhelming!

And no, the crackers often don't need to purchase the game as these days most games are leaked before release. Even still, that's 1 purchase that may serve hundreds of thousands of pirates, whereas the hundreds of thousands of used copies of a game HAD to be purchased at least the same number of times.

I'm sorry, but you have to be completely clueless to not see a difference.

only 600k of these 2.2 million are from xbox360, the rest are from PC and Mac. a game like this is never going to sell 10 million copies, if CD Projekt try to dumb it down and appeal to the masses it would be a very different game
3-4-5  +   601d ago
I never paid much attention to the game because of the Stupid name. " The Witcher" is such a dumb, generic sounding name.

Why do these Dev's do this ? Game would have sold even more with a better name. It looks like it just blends in with all those other dark FPS games that have been released over the past 2 years.
Summons75  +   601d ago
Game would have sold the same regardless. The name doesn't matter with anything, it's the gameplay, story, content that matter the most. The Witcher is based off a couple of polish books that are a very good read by the way.
StrongMan  +   601d ago
One of those PC copies is mine. Awesome game. Only sold 300k on Xbox and that's a shame.
Belking  +   601d ago
First you claimed the game bombed. Now you are putting up false numbers. Stop trolling dude, the game has sold more than that on xbox360. It sold over 500, 000 in first 3 months on the console. Obviously they made a profit on that alone. Still, this is great news and hopefully we see the Witcher 3 on PS3 and Xbox360 sometime in the near future.

How pathetic can a fanboy be, really? Lying about sales numbers in order to make your precious console and company look better than the other.

Are you that insecure?
Brian1rr  +   601d ago
That's because the price didnt drop below $30 the whole year
Lordchunk  +   601d ago
Good game deserves more sales then call of duty imo.
baldulf  +   601d ago
Best RPG I have played this gen.
Johnny_Cojones  +   601d ago
I bought 3 copies on PC (2 as gifts) & one on 360. Love this game.
