Famitsu used be a very reputed publication a decade ago but now they are just another bunch of greedy bastards who give always give great reviews to big publisher games. I havent read a single preview/review for DmC that evaluates the game properly on the basis of gameplay, graphics, mechanics, sound, animation and performance. These are basic things in a hardcore technical hack and slash like DMC. Everybody just keeps saying, "it is great, everything is fine! It is better or at least the same as older DMCs." None of the reviews are objective and that is why they look like paid reviews. I do not believe any of the reviews until they evaluate the game properly based on the above criteria. Currently the reviews are like the following image,
Famitsu's reviews are always plus 3 or 4 of what they should be. I've seen numerous times them rating games with an 8 or 9 and the general consensus on Metacritic gives them a 5 or 6.
Honestly though Im a bit surprised myself. Thats the same score DMC3 was given by them and I was pretty sure that Japanese reviewers were going to hate this new western DmC. Cant wait to try it out for myself next week.
It may as well be. It's just a total of four arbitrary scores devoid of anything resembling context.
Famitsu reviews are never terribly detailed, but they DO do a good job of pointing out the relative strengths and weaknesses of games, concisely... but the actual scores they give seldom reflect those qualitative judgments.
You know, like every other review you see posted here: reviews that are scathing in criticism but dole out 9s and 10s; reviews that are nothing but praise that dole out 5s and 6s.
He meant that no Vita games got released. He's right. The next Vita games don't release in Japan until January 24th, so they miss this issue of the Weekly Famitsu.
"I tried the demo....not tricking me into buying this crap "DMC"."
Try and have an open mind man, there's a lot of people riding on the coat-tails of hatred here on Negativity4Gamers. DMC seems to be receiving pretty good reviews, and these are reviews of the full game, from start to finish, not of a demo of an incomplete build. I'm not sure anybody's trying to trick anyone, if anything the people bashing the game before they've even played the final build could be seen as the ones trying to trick people.
A demo is a taste of the full game. The controls were terrible, the gameplay was boring, the enemies were boring the design looked bad. I'm not getting this game because I hated the demo which should serve the purpose of giving you a taste of the full game and also because of the way Tameem acted. People like him do not deserve my hard earned money. It's not because others hate this "DMC" so I hate it too just to be "cool" or "accepted". That's not the case, I made up my own mind because of the things I wrote down. After the demo and lot's of gameplay videos it's safe to say that this game is a piece of shit and doesn't deserve the DMC name.
People just need to accept the fact that some of us just don't like this garbage but I actually gave a chance to this game.
i'm not usually a fan of dmc, but if ninja theory's making it, then i'm interested. Just beat heavenly sword, blew my expectations away.
if your a mgs fan then revengeance looks like it's ruining the character and atmosphere and everything that i liked about mgs, but if revengeance is a great standalone title then heck yes i'll play it. that's why i think any dmc fan not willing to enjoy this game if it ends up being great is an idiot.
"that's why i think any dmc fan not willing to enjoy this game if it ends up being great is an idiot."
And that's why no one gives a sh*t about your opinion. You are just like any other DmC fanboy that spouts bs and tries to pass his own opinion as a fact. I loved actual Devil May Cry games (second one, not so much) since the first one and I played them to death. And after watching crap ton of material for DmC and then playing that horrible demo, I decided to not buy it. Oh and, it won't end up being great. There won't be any difference to combat or anything else from the demo considering Tameem himself said that they won't be fixing anything until the actual game comes out.
"And that's why no one gives a sh*t about your opinion. You are just like any other DmC fanboy that spouts bs and tries to pass his own opinion as a fact."
Way to twist his words and create an argument out of nothing. And in actual fact, as a neutral observer over the last few months it's actually the people bashing the game months before it's even released that look like they are spouting bs and trying to pass their own opinion as fact seeing as they haven't actually even played the final build yet.
GUYwhoPLAYSvideoGAME makes a very valid point, it looks like so called fans of the Devil May Cry series are going to miss out on a very good entry to the series because they're so wrapped up in hatred purely for the sake of hating.
This mentality is what is wrong with people. It's not that you can't do varied combos that are difficult to pull off - it's the fact that other "less-skilled" players can get similar scores using easier or more repetitive methods.
Letting somebody else's adeptness with a game get in the way of your own personal enjoyment is both asinine and elitism at it's worst. If you don't want to get a three hit SSS, DO SOMETHING HARDER. It doesn't take anything away from you - in fact, you look better and flashier than others while doing so. Not that anybody cares...
"..it's the fact that other "less-skilled" players can get similar scores using easier or more repetitive methods."
"I have no idea what I'm talking about heauheauhae"
Let's compare this to the old games. In Devil May Cry 1-3-4, to get SSS you had to use everything that was available to you. People who used the "repetitive" combos always managed to get A's and such, which is not bad, but to get an S let alone SSS, you had to use your pistol, a wide variety of different combos, switch style (for DMC 4), dodge on time (barely filled the style meter) or taunt (filled it even less than dodge).
Now onto DmC. All you have to do is do one perfect dodge (easy as hell to do once you're used to timing), two hits with Rebellion and then heavy shockwave attack with the axe.
Keep babbling about how open minded you are. Try to keep using big words or try to write complicated sentences in your own right as much as you want. It won't change the fact that DmC is an utterly sh*t game and it has nothing to do with "lel ur mad cauz u dun die with one hit lol elitist".
It's always easy to blame one party for being "elitist" while failing to give a decent example regarding why do you think that this "problem" isn't important and can actually be considered as a feature to get the newcomers warm to the game or at least let the people who aren't good at the game some more enjoyment...
Meanwhile, in Dante Must Die, you get 2 bars drained from your health in DmC (which was three+ times of that in Devil May Cry 3). Talk about giving hardcore fans what they want (not really) while pandering to the casual crowd with lower difficulty levels named like they are the hardest ones.
---------------
"we all know you don't like the new dmc and that's why no one gives a damn about your opinion. Looking forward too this game."
-you don't like this game -your "opinion" is invalid
ahahaha what a story Mark! How does it feel to be this edgy and being the cancer of the video game industry and being the sole reason that this console generation has become utterly crap?
Also remember to buy Overstrike too. I heard EA dumbed it down for a certain crowd, so that they can enjoy it too.
-----------------
"Most people never give Enslaved a chance, either. It's very depressing. Such an amazing story!
I can't wait for DMC!"
-Both Heavenly Sword And Enslaved written by decent writers that are hired by NT and have no affiliations with Capcom or NT whatsoever. -DmC is being written by an edgy manchild NT employee who's been insulting the actual fanbase since day 1 and also loves to self insert...
I agree. Ninja Theory has made two games. Both were two of the best games I've ever played. Most people never give Enslaved a chance, either. It's very depressing. Such an amazing story!
So DMC 3 got the same score from them. Haha, I honestly thought this game wouldn't be up to the expectations of those that dwell in the land of the rising sun seeing as NT is western. The game comes out Jan 13 over there, this quite a pleasant surprise, I thought that America and Europe reviewers would rate this well, but not Japan. Color me excited. I can't wait for this to release here. Just 1 more week.
FINALLY someone gives LBP Karting the love it deserves. Best kart racer since Mario Kart 64. Seriously. I haven't met a person who doesn't enjoy it. I have, however, heard several reviewers trash it...for God knows what. They don't seem to give good reasons.
The game is solid crap. LBK I mean Bad gameplay, bad unresponsive controls, stupid boost system, lack of sense of speed, and also average graphic. It's pretty bad.
Totally your opinion,no actual facts especially when u didn't play the full game...beginning to end...can't wait to play this beautiful looking interesting game! Remember haters...HATE is really LOVE in denial....you so-called haters LOVE to be in EVERY DmC forum, knowing you're going to be playing DmC like the rest of us when Jan,15 drops!!...have fun playing I know I will!!
@mocat I learnt from a while that lots of people on N4G only looks at pics and is not able to read, a big majority of those who can actually read, don't understand what they read and finally, most of those who understand what they read, don't give a crap because they already have their opinions set in stone. That's why I become a troll every time I post here in the comment section :p And I quite enjoy it I must say :D Shame on me! :p
Famitsu gave FFXIII & RE6 39/40 the ppl who review games there r clueless beyond imagination to take any review score from them seriously means to be also clueless & have the brain of a brick.
I can understand the die hard fans of the series being pretty pissed of with how Ninja Theory "treated" ye guys in regards to all the changes, it would be the same if Hideo Kojima handed the reigns of Metal Gear Solid to another dev team and they thought they should change Solid Snake's design, I'd be furious!
But, me being someone who really enjoyed the past Devil May Cry games, but not a die hard fan, have to admit that the DmC demo was pretty good, gorgeous graphics, great art direction and satisfying combat, the boss battle was really well done and it's design was gruesomely awesome.
Moral of the story, I can understand the hate, but doesn't take away from the fact that it, well the demo, was really good and I have no reason as to way the full game won't be.
I agree with your point entirely mate. I don't understand the hate either.
However Dantes redesign isn't Ninja theory's doing. It's Capcom. The initial designs of dante were prettty close to what he looked like in DMC 3 but when NT presented them to Capcom they were told they wanted him to be radically altered. Thus they went back to the drawing board and came up with the new Dante and i honestly wouldn't be surprised if the whole games narrative ends up being about how he ends up with White hair and is the bad asss we all know and love.
I can see why they're so upset, but like I said, the demo was very very good, and I came across a GIF with regards to DmC and .......... *SPOILER* *SPOILER* *SPOILER* .........
He does, at some point in the game, have shoulder length white hair, but I digress.
*END SPOILER*
The demo was good enough to entice me to buy it.
That, along with Devil May Cry HD & Devil May Cry 4 for €85, not a bad deal right there.
I wouldn't be surprized if they bribed other western developers, in my opinion I think they have or threaterned them, but Famitsu is s far up a load of Japanese developers arse's that it wouldn't even need a bribe off them.
RE6 got hate for no real reason? Not survival horror, QTE every 5 seconds, Horrid camera that sometimes makes the game impossible to play, broken cover system, ridiculous over the top action setpieces, cheap deaths that have nothing to do with your skill, just 2 or 3 puzzles in the whole goddamn game, overpowered melee... Should I go on? You shouldnt talk about things you know nothing about.
It's ironic because the only comments here that mention Dante's design are the ones who like this piece of crap.
We've gotten over Dante's design. The real problem is gameplay. But to be fair, it's not just DmC that suffers from this problem. A lot of hack n slash games have been watered down these days.
Can you please elaborate on why the gameplay is bad? It feels just like DMC4 as far as controls and gameplay go. Combo system is pretty good (not as great as Bayonetta) and the rating system is exactly the same as past installments. You can switch weapons mid-combo just like DMC 3 and 4. The only thing thats truly different about this game is the art style and presentation. I dont know. Maybe I see things differently. I just dont understand the hate this game gets from westerners.
There's a lot of reasons to hate the new Dante, but playing the demo I did find the combo system quite entertaining. I'm gonna give this game a chance, emo teenager Dante or not.
This is so much fun. Every review that says the new DMC is good is fake. I love it. People so want to hate the game that no review is any good.Everyone is paid off and lying. If it were a game that everyone wanted to succeed you would see how many people would be attacking you for judging it early and saying 'it's only a demo you played' and how stupid you are to judge it early and if anyone mentioned that the reviewer was paid off and the only ones brave enough to review it are the people who give it a low score they would want to stab you and tell you as many bad things about your mother as they can think of.And no matter where the score came from no one would care. It could have come from a lost African tribe and no one would give a damn.
But since it is DMC a game everyone has insisted that they will hate no matter what suddenly everyone wakes up and are ready to analysis every single aspect of the reviews and want other reviews and back up reviews and particular reviews and reviews from a certain country and from a certain person and from a certain state and anyone who says it's bad will be their hero.Gamers are so predictable it's almost sad. They think that if they rally against it no matter what Capcom will change it next game. But I played the demo and the gameplay worked just fine and the living city setting was awesome. And this is coming from a original Dante fan. Like I said you guys are funny.N4G is only good for a laugh these days just like Playstationlifestyle.I can't take you guys seriously anymore. And I am certain everyone with a broomstick up their butt will shower me with disagrees. Well I don't take those seriously either.I know no one will listen to anything I say and just shower me with disagrees no matter what because I am not on the new DMC hate train.
I played the demo and I hated it. I don't care to enjoy something just because you or someone else has a problem with my view on it. I think the demo was garbage. What can be done to sway me at this point?

Now your proberly thinking "well this dmc isn't Japanese developed" BUT it's still Japanese in it's brand name.
Hell these guys give FF13, F13-2, RE6 nearly perfect scores
Also: DMC is gonna get its fair share of 8s and 9s everywhere else too. As it already has from magazines.
Can't wait for it, and it's so close now!
He's right.

If it has to do well, at least don't forget to mercilessly criticize the new Dante.
