The Guy Who Made Bayonetta Is Clueless about Valve and PC Gaming
Over the weekend, Hideki Kamiya—director of Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and Bayonetta—was asked over twitter about his opinion of Valve, Steam, and PC gaming in general. He responded thusly.

Believe it or not a lot of people aren't. Yea they know pc gaming exist and all that but a ton of people dont know what valve, steam, origin are. This is because consoles are more mainstream to the general public. As a developer he has no excuse though.
He's an old-school, console-focused developer who still gets paid to be exactly that. When the money's coming from Valve, he'll know plenty about it. Until then, he chose to not follow the rest of the industry, for better or worse, but his "excuse" is "Sorry, I didn't hear you over the sound of my current contract's money." It's an excuse I wish I had.
How many Japanese studios make PC games? You know what's mainstream in Japan? Japanese game consoles and Japanese handheld systems. Oh, and Japanese software.
And he doesnt need to. He is a god to the game world. He can secure a console release and sustained sales. Im no fan of the RE titles but millions are. How many PC games gone unloved when compared to the games he's put out?

Its not even the 360 as much as its MS, but then again Sony has released more PC gamers this gen then I would say MS has. Sony SOE is still making games so....
Mind you many of MS big titles have not seen the light of PC ie Halo series past 3 and all of Forza etc. Some games are on PC by MS some are by Sony. Not enough to have a real "link"

The guy is a Japanese developer. PC games there are mostly adventure, doujin or hentai games. Traditional PC gamers there must be a very small minority.
Now don't use this to discredit the developer. He's a respected developer and made some great games.
Kamiya is garbage much like Platinum Games and the games they make as a whole. Of course someone who makes nothing but mediocre overrated games won't know anything about real games/gaming. He's not just clueless about Valve & PC, he's clueless about how to actually make a good game (or at least a game worth playing).
Just to be clear, I'm not against PC gamers in general, only narrow minded ones with a supremacy complex. And Okami haters. I'm a multiplatform gamer, including PC.
All he says is he's not interested. It doesn't mean he doubts PC's power or how much money it makes etc.....it just means he is not interested.
Its like Kojima saying he is not interested in news about the new iPad....why would he? He makes console games (and currently a PC game in the works). This means literally nothing. It doesn't mean tablet games make no money and Kojima doesn't know that etc.

Kotaku takes one solitary tweet where he gives his opinion and apparently he represents a whole country and the article paints him as a clueless xenophobe. The mindless readers at Kotaku then flood his Twitter asking him why he hates PC gaming and Westerners and he gets pissed off and tell them to fuck off, but someone he's out of line. I know I've said this before, but Kotaku really is the bottom barrel shit of gaming journalism. And go Kamiya for defending yourself. Too many developers leave their balls in their purse and go on a PR tour, he said fuck that and went back to developing Wonderful 101. That's how you're suppose to do it.
You could take half of Kamiya's twitter replies and make crazy headlines about them. He's a twitter machine, I don't know how he finds time to work. I'm impressed he takes the time to reply in English at all. He said once he learns a lot of English through twitter, but replying to so many people in a language he's not completely comfortable in just shows that he likes being connected to his fans.
Just noticed his most recent tweet: "Flood of English tweets again. Sorry but tired of reading them. Going back to work." Poor guy. I hope this doesn't stop him from replying to his English speaking fans in the future...
I actually read Kotaku's article before it was posted on N4G cause I actually go there regularly. I didnt see anything wrong with their article at all. Its fair enough you can bash them for their generally low standards of reporting but this article... is not that bad.
Rather you should be discussing why Hideki Kamiya doesnt know about PC's and the Kotaku article gives several points as to why.
