IGM runs through all the known features of Nvidia's newly announced Project Shield mobile hardware. (Android, Industry, Mobile, Tech)

I'm very much looking forward to this console, it has some rather great ideas and the ability to stream Steam to it is what really sells it to me!

Price point will be a big factor however, but hopefully this will be a great addition to the console market

Am I the only one that thinks this thing looks ridiculous?

I would prefer something like the Vita with those types of specs. Seriously a full sized console controller with a screen attached to it seems very silly and very bulky to me.

The best bet is to get a Tegra 4 tablet which seems a lot more practical to me than this *thing*.

How much power it is over Vita?

Tegra 4

vita sucks. good hardware but no games

If we believe Nvidia, Tegra4 is in some aspects better than ps360 and in some is on par.
A tablet with extra controler may cost more but it is a better option overall.

Steaming PC games requires having a good gaming PC. Most PC gamers are happy with their gaming setup.

Android games? Kinda too shallow to pay a hefty price for.

Not sure what's this device's real point. I mean, hardware-wise, it's amazing, but they need to also focus on the software.

I agree that is the main problem. Why would people really buy it? If they moved the streaming capabilities outside the home then I can see a good selling point but at the moment I can see a reason to buy one

This looks like a really bad fan-made concept/mock-up for an XBOX handheld. It's pretty much the original XBOX "Duke" controller, with a small tablet attached. Is it April 1st already??

So questions:

1) What happens if your PC isn't powerful enough to play games like Assassin's Creed III, Borderlands 2, etc.?
2) So you need your "Gaming" PC/Laptop open at all times?
3) You need wifi to play the "good" games, otherwise it's just another ridiculous android tablet?

#Nobuy.

Vita>This

is a prototype.....nothing taht u can buy...they r not this crazy to put on the market an handheld....like sony did...they r happy selling their tegra to mobile phones and tablets

If this is priced correctly (Nvidia is not tradtionally cheap though) Sony and Nintendo should worry as smartphone and tablets are already taking away their marketshare...this will just further that decline

i would expect something like this for nx gen controllers due to the dual screen gaming but not a handheld to carry around with u.. Im sure the price will be that of a tablet & it will have limited options.. No powerful PC, no streaming to this thing.. Ul be stuck with andriod market games.. NO THANK YOU.. ill stick with my vita which gets originally developed handheld games & not casual smart phone games

Don't underestimate the power this could provide to the Android market. Suddenly those casual games you're speaking of could be as good looking and as detailed as a 'mainstream' PC game off of Steam. I agree that the design is bulky and in some ways unusual, but having the Tegra 4 under the hood should provide the boost needed for the mobile market to really put some extra pressure on the Vita/3DS in terms of quality output.

Well it haves one thing that all handle consoles shoud had an HDMI port to play on your hdtv!THATS one of the things the VITA shoud have and dont!
