Looking Forward To Next-Gen

An opinion column via eGamer.co.za which looks at the possibility of next-gen this year based on game release dates and what we've not been told just yet.

Quote: "Consider if you will that we have no real release date for Watch Dogs, pictured in the header image for this column. Do you remember the first time we were witness to Watch Dogs gameplay? How blown away were you by all of it? You might be a little harder to impress than that, sure, but you cannot say your eyes didn’t pop even a little. And again when you saw Star Wars 1313, a game which it was said was running on a high-end PC during the gameplay demonstration at E3 2012. Keep in mind that neither of these games have a solid release date, other than either late 2013 or early 2014.

Moving on from this, I might once again point reference to the fact that after May 2013, the game release dates become a blur of “2013″ with no actual solid release dates offered. Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and Beyond: Two Souls are t...

Please, please reset all gamerscores to zero. For the sake of us that didn't play "King Kong" for achivement points.

I don't want any one to carry over that shame with them (even if they want to) I do believe that there is a time to move on from one gamerscore to the next one.

If they don't reset it, fine, I'll have my points but I feel that it doesn't represent what has been done on your new system alone.

There's no such thing as achievements in videogames.

Who cares what they do, it's not like playing games achieves anything. Get achievement from life. Get fun from video games.

I respect your comment. Most of the people here are setting real goals and achieving them. I feel good about where I am at. It is clear that the word achievment is used with a different meaning on this website.

Where has the author been? It hasn't been 'suddenly' that games on PC look better. It's been that way basically since about Gears of War ONE came out. Even before that they were in higher resolution.

Also I don't understand the....'I see three games that look way too good to be on this generation...and that must mean the next one is right around the corner'. Maybe, Maybe not.

What exactly was Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, and numerous other DX11 titles? The point is you can have those sorts of visuals on PC and port a downgraded version to 360/PS3. It's basically what's been happening for many years, more noticeably after DX11 vid cards started coming out.

So while they MAY be a watchdogs, 1313, metal gear game on next gen consoles this year. I see it as more likely that these games will be on 360/PS3 and if you want to game how they were shown, you need a decent PC.

Besides, 720/PS4 will already be behind a current mid level PC. It's just the facts. Can't have thousand(s) of dollars of parts that suck up 700-1500 watts be compacted down and added with other stuff and have it cost $400 and use only 250 watts.
