Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified Review | Killer App or Killer Blow for the Vita? [Dealspwn]

Dealspwn writes: This is a huge blow for the PS Vita. The handheld really needed some killer apps from third-party publishers to convert hesitant gamers. Nintendo probably sent Nihilistic roses for giving their competitor such a rotten apple. Nihilistic have since reorganised and renamed their company and shifted towards mobile titles. When you think of all the decent studios that went under in 2012, you can’t help but wish they’d gone too. Some of the blame must also rest with Activision, who should have stepped in to avoid such damage to be inflicted on the otherwise excellent Call of Duty brand. Are there any third-party developers still out there capable of bringing a Triple-A title to the Vita? The signs are not looking promising right now. (Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified, PS Vita) 4/10

Again? IMO the game takes at least a 6 out of 10.

Depends on the price you buy the game for.

At $50 this is easily 4/10

At $40 it's still too much for this game, I would give it a 5/10

At $30 now maybe it would be worth it for this game 7/10

That's just how I look at it, compared to other $50 premium games this falls very short on all categories.

i just got the game for Xmas and its not as bad as i thought, its a cod game thru and thru and that's both good and bad, its good because it plays like the console version (once you turn auto sprint off) so its easy to jump in and play, the mp is the same, even has kill confirmed mode, it has perks, kill streaks and so on, the bad however is everything is reduced, smaller maps, only 4 vs 4, fewer weapons, lack of zombies, and while it does have kill confirmed other modes are missing... all in all its what I've come to expect from a cod game just less of it, if i had to rate it i would say its a 6 out of 10, not a good game, but not a piece of crap either, there is fun to be had with it. i would agree with thegrimofdeath and say a 7 out of 10, if the game didn't have so many bugs at the moment, but hopefully some of the issues it has right now can be patched up soon

'Killer App or Killer Blow for the Vita?'

Why are these people so eager for the Vita to be 'killed'? All we need is a burning windmill and a group of angry villagers with pitchforks and the scene will be set.

It's a death blow for call of duty on vita. But, the vita will live!
Krew_92  +   465d ago
That is correct. If anything this is more of a death blow to Nihilistic. If you think about it, it kind of was. They changed their name and ran away after this was released, I see that as a victory as now a new developer can step up and maybe fix the mistakes made by Nihilistic.

I know this didn't hurt the Vita, but it did hurt the people's confidence in FPS games on the Vita, it's up to Guerrilla Cambridge with the help of Guerrilla Games to rectify the tarnished image with Killzone: Mercenary.

Is it really that bad? I mean I definitely wont spend $50 but I might eventually get it. What would be a good price?
Krew_92  +   465d ago
I'd say no more than $25, $30 would be more realistic though since this is Activision and Call of Duty,a company and set of games that almost never drop their prices as time passes.

It's ridiculous that Black Ops 1 and Modern Warfare 3 still cost more than $50 (in game stores, Black Ops is $39.99 in Steam which is still a rip off but we do see them get discounted at least by 20%). That's a whole different story though.

Sorry for going on a rant, I guess I would say wait until the game is being sold at $20 - $30. If anything if you're a trophy hunter the $20 would mean an easy platinum.

I had the game and put in plenty of time into it. If it was 15 dollar app, I would give it an 8.0 < But , for 49.00 F that crap. Its an app type of game, or psn network game in my opinion. Sure the game is flawed, but all call of duty games have some BS to it. They should give it to ps+ users now.
