Redguard: new Skyrim DLC pack, or next gen Elder Scrolls title?

OXM UK: "If certain stealthy manoeuvrings on the trademark and patents front are any indication, the next (final?) Skyrim DLC pack will focus on the Redguard, skilled warriors who hail from the nation of Hammerfell, just off Skyrim's south-western border." (Next-Gen, PC, PS3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Xbox 360)

claud3  +   716d ago
well their is a path leading to hammerfell in skyrim that you can not access yet. So maybe the access will be enabled when this redguard dlc comes out
Root  +   716d ago

I want them to go to ValenWood for the Elder Scrolls 6 and merge the map with Elsweyr aswell since they are both small.

It would be great to wander around the map and see such big chances to the landscape and culture....from the big tall trees of Valenwood to the tropical jungles of Elsweyr

U Racist!...... y u no wanna go to Africa? /s

(I being incredible facetious if its not obvious, lol)
Duckman620  +   714d ago
I really hope that is the setting of the next game as well!! I think its too early for them to be announcing the next game so this has to be a Skyrim dlc.
GraveLord  +   716d ago
Maybe they should fix Skryim before releasing a new game? Just a thought.
aquamala  +   716d ago
what's there to fix? It's only buggy on PS3
DragonKnight  +   716d ago
You must not have played Skyrim.
aquamala  +   715d ago
^^^ sure I have , spent 100+ hours on it on pc, what bugs am I supposed to see?
MysticStrummer  +   715d ago
Bethesda sure seems to think there are still bugs in the pc version, or they wouldn't keep releasing patches. Maybe they know better than you...? I spent more than 150 hours on the PS3 version and had very few bug problems. Does that mean those bugs don't exist? No, it doesn't.
DOMination-  +   715d ago
Whilst some of the problems that happened mainly with the ps3 version were unacceptable, a game like this will always have minor bugs here and there.

At least they can fix most major stuff now. I think the elder scrolls 2 had a bug which meant you could never complete the main quest. Imagine how that got through testing!
SnotyTheRocket  +   715d ago
you just said it, it's buggy on PS3. Some of us only own a PS3, so, we kind of want a decent version.
cpayne93  +   715d ago
It's not any buggier on ps3 than 360 now, after all the patches skyrim runs just fine on ps3. I've had little lag and bug problems myself.
gobluesamg  +   715d ago
I'm in 100+ hours on PS3 and haven't had a single problem. Maybe I shouldn't have said that haha.
Runa216  +   715d ago
I played it 105 hours my first run through on PS3 only encountering one glitch. My second time through it I spent almost 300 hours and only had less than a half dozen freezes. 400 hours, 6 glitches. That's a better ratio than Uncharted 3 on PS3.

I played it for 20 hours on Xbox 360 and lost count of how many times the game froze on me. Loading times were better and there were fewer late-game framerate issues, but it was far glitchier.

I know I can't use my own experiences as an undeniable truth, but in my experience it was far glitcher on Xbox 360; I think the shitty nature is greatly overrated on PS3.
Darrius Cole  +   715d ago
A couple of things

@Runa, I understand that 6 glitches in 400 hours is a good ratio but it still isn't as good as Uncharted 3 or any Uncharted on PS3 for that matter. I understand the point you were making but I had to say that. Uncharted on PS3 has been perfect so far. And I mean perfect. I haven't had a single dropped frame in 3 whole games....not one slowdown, split frame, freeze up, or anything else in the entire franchise.

My Skyrim experience was largely stable but it was still glitchy. I had a few random freezes. However anytime I tried to put the camera under the water my game froze up. I had to cross water, I had to make the character look up in such a way that the camera would not dip under the water, or else instant locked up game.
Eyeco  +   715d ago
@Darrius Cole
Really because I've encountered quite a few annoying bugs in Uncharted 3 in fact just today I couldn't quit the single player portion it was quick saving but it's like it just froze on quick saving so I happened to quit the game via OS and also today when I tried playing online the game froze when I was connecting online and that isn't the first time that's happened to me sometimes when I first boot the game up it freezes wtf I'm up to date with all my patches, I never had this problem with 1 or 2.
DOMination-  +   715d ago
Uncharted is a linear game where testing for bugs was probably fairly straightforward. Skyrim is much more unpredictable due to the open nature.
Darrius Cole  +   714d ago

I can't tell you what your experience was I can only tell you what my experience was. And as far as the performance of Uncharted on PS3 goes it was PERFECT. After the initial load screen, all 3 games run from beginning to end without so much as one pause for a load time.

I understand that other people may have slightly different experiences; but if you search the nets and check the experiences of lots of people, it becomes clear that more peoples' experience has been close to mine on both games. Clearly more people have had issues with Skyrim on PS3 than have had issues with Uncharted on PS3.
LAWSON72  +   716d ago
maybe you should buy it on xbox or pc since you know the ps3 has a quarter of ram. i have played it on xbox with 300+ hrs without one fatal bug.
konnerbllb  +   715d ago
You must not have downloaded any title updates. I also have over 300 hours on xbox and the recent title update freezes my game every fifteen minutes or so. It happens most often when sprint into an area that hasn't been loaded into ram.
UnholyLight  +   715d ago
Me too. Havent had any bugs on my Xbox 360 version at all
THE_MACGREGOR  +   715d ago
I play on my xbox. Doesnt matter what console you game on. Bethesda went half assed on proper programming. I cant even finish the main story line. So gaystation isnt the only console having issues with the game.
yes i threw in some flame bait.
Knight_Crawler  +   716d ago
@GraveLord - You must own the PS3 version...I feel your pain bro.
MysticStrummer  +   715d ago
You should contact Bethesda and tell them to stop wasting their time working on patches for the pc and 360 bugs that aren't there.

A quick google search will show you multiple forums, official and unofficial, where people are still reporting bugs in the supposedly flawless pc and 360 versions of Skyrim.

I have over 150 hours on the PS3 version with few bugs. That doesn't mean bugs don't exist.
Reverent  +   715d ago
Considering that there was already a an Elder Scrolls game called Redgaurd, I think its a safe bet to say its DLC...

Personally, I'm really hoping that the next game will take place in Akavir.
THE_MACGREGOR  +   715d ago
I gotta give you a like for that one. And your the 26 morons who disagree. How TF are you all wanting a new game. When bethesda cant even fix the Shit they got going wrong in there game (Skyrim) right now?
GusBricker  +   715d ago
Yeah, it's buggy, but if you've played RPG's, you know you should have multiple saves and save a lot.
Duckman620  +   714d ago
Roughly 225 hours of game play (across various characters) and the only problems I've encountered was my game crashing when I try to enter the original Dark Brotherhood location after having finished the quest line, and 2 other times where after playing for 10+ consecutive hours my game has froze. So honestly I don't think the game is perfectly fine.
Bigpappy  +   716d ago
Time to move on from Skyrim. The Redguards could have their own story in ES6. Later down the line we can enter the world of the Orcs and so on. I remember with Morrowind, the last DLC was to the North of Vanderfell and was a Nord stronghold leading up to Skyrim. They were decimated by Werewolf attacks until I put an end to their nightmare. But Bethesda did not stop there with the Nords. Skyrim gives a true look at their neck of the woods. Same should be done for all the races (their own full ES story.
kesvalk  +   715d ago
if i remember correctly, orsimers don't have a land of their own.

i want a TES focused on khajiit and Argonians.
or dwemers.
ceballos77mx  +   715d ago
On what happened to the dwemer, that would be a good story.
mmunflor8985  +   713d ago
Orsimer (spelling?) has been recognized by the empire finally. They werent before Skyrim, but they have a province of their own now i believe. I think a lot of war and racism prevented them from being recognized before. However... it is debatable now whether the empire is the authority to recognize this anymore. There was an NPC in Morrowind that basically said the empires time was almost up. This character was a representation of Tiber Septim himself. I believe his name was Wulf or something along those lines. I dont expect the empire to last much longer given the hints and clues provided. So in future games, i believe something else will take its place.
Summons75  +   716d ago
I still want an elder scrolls game with a completely open tamriel, and not that stupid mmo either. I want to travel from the black marsh to summer set isle by myself not online. It'd be amazing if they did it right or released one area and then released one a month to ensure a more stable game.

If Bethesda made a game like that and still kept to the depth and detail that their fans and themselves expect then it would take atleast 10 years to make and cost like a billion dollars. Sorry i don't see that ever happening. I like it this way any ways. This way we can have an ES game like every 3-5 years and the series will last longer instead of putting all the content into one game 10 years from now and then not ever having another ES game.
SpecialK  +   716d ago
What would be good is if someone just somehow stitched the games together to create one large map. Do skyrim and morrowind and cyrodil share borders? (cant remember).

That would be awesome, especially since mods are already out what make oblivion and morrowind look really good
Balcrist  +   715d ago
@ swpecialk: For PC there's a mod called Skywind that puts morrowind into the skyrim engine.
-Gespenst-  +   715d ago
Maybe for next-next gen.
MysticStrummer  +   715d ago
"I still want an elder scrolls game with a completely open tamriel"

The original ES game was like that. I'd love for them to make another one that way but I'd love to have the option of exploring it with a friend.
Conquerbeard  +   715d ago
Pretty sure Daggerfall allowed for traveling from one end of Tamriel to the other.
Summons75  +   715d ago
Yeah I've played it but it would be nice to have a modern one.
roadkillers  +   716d ago
Redguard? Good name, they can clean up the stench of Skyrim.
DragonKnight  +   716d ago
Yay, another Xbox 360 DLC that won't appear on the PS3 and that the PC audience will have to wait a month for. AWESOME! /s
-Gespenst-  +   716d ago
When I finished Oblivion I said to myself "man, I could use a new Elder Scrolls game. I can't wait to see what the next one'll be like."

But after playing Skyrim, I'm sort of done. I don't really feel like I need a new ES game.

Unless the next one is a complete overhaul, I don't think I'm really that interested.

The next game needs good, expressive, well animated character models, not awkward mannequins. The narrative suffers because of them. It also needs a drastically novel setting for a ES game. Something like a jungle or a desert with mayan-esque ruins or hidden desert tombs. Of course it also needs to lose the buggyness. The combat and the sound could also use a lot of work. Everything needs more punch.

"But after playing Skyrim, I'm sort of done. I don't really feel like I need a new ES game.2

I think it's to do with the fact they've dumbed it down too much, it's like deep down your scared that the next one will dumbed down even more which puts you off it.

I'm more excited for Fallout 4 to be honest

Everything in Skyrim just felt the same after a while...draugr for example were everywhere, same thing in every dungeon. Hell even in the dungeons in the Dragonborn DLC, why the hell are draugr, fallen nordic warriors on a Dunmer island.

-Gespenst-  +   715d ago
Hmmm that's true to an extent I think... but I'm always hearing the dumbed down thing and I'm not sure I agree. You don't have to repair weapons and that's about it really... If anything, it was just too much of the same.

The dungeons were a bit annoying though yeah. The falmer locations and the Dwarven interiors were just the ugliest laziest places ever in terms of design, and the drougr places were all pretty samey. The Ayleid ruins in Oblivion were awesome.

Though I suppose part of the Skyrim aesthetic was the whole rough around the edges thing. Not sure I dug it...
mmunflor8985  +   713d ago
To point something out. Solstiem belonged to the Nords before it was given to the dunmer. More so, it was for the skaal. In Bloodmoon, the expansion for morrowind that gave you access to solstiem, there were draugr everywhere... They were a LOT more difficult in bloodmoon than they are in Skyrim. The problem with Skyrim is not only the diversity of monsters but their difficulty. It makes for a less rewarding system. Or perhaps overly rewarding for something not to difficult to get. I'll let you be the judge of that. In my opinion Skyrim was not the most diverse place to set a game in. Hammerfell Orsimer and Highrock would be diverse enough just as morrowind was. Or even Elswyr. (however you spell it). It needs to be more difficult and through that more rewarding.
angusajj  +   713d ago
I didn't like how there wasn't much reward for completing major quests like the main one, and the civil war ones, by which i mean, you got some money and some items, but it would've been cool, if when the dragons dissappearred and when war was over to have more people from other parts of tamriel appearing and towns being tidied up so they don't look as gloomy, it would make you feel like your actions had more of an effect on the world.
mmunflor8985  +   713d ago
This is something Morrowind got down right. Minus other characters coming in from other parts of Tameriel. Your actions seemed to carry more weight and essential characters were killable. I can understand why this is not as doable in Skyrim as morrowind though because with vampire attacks and dragon attacks.. you would constantly risk losing an essential NPC. But i agree.. the game wasnt rewarding enough.. but in different ways. It wasnt difficult. Dragonborn did raise the bar though and i was glad it did.
JasonXS12  +   715d ago
How about Redguard be a DLC in Hammerfell but Elder Scrolls 6 be all of Tamriel. If Elder Scrolls Online can pull off Tamriel, no doubt Bethesda Softworks can. It'll be next gen as well so there shouldn't be any space limitations.
landog  +   715d ago
no thanks, i have so many free mods to play through, i'll buy all the dlc for skyrim in one package for $10 on steam this summer, the mods are so great, and theres plenty to do, just got a free airship castle and am playing in Elsweyr (moonpath to Elsweyr) excellent mod;

also, just got tons of lord of the rings weapons in the game that must be found, or forged....so cool;

I would like to see a new IP

Elder Scrolls and Fallout can cook in the oven and be ready when its really ready for something new and not just to meet expectations.

Playing so many sequels these days makes me feel like they are brainwashing me to like a little bit next and then little bit more.
Whatever happened to a fresh experience?

I'd rather that Redguard be DLC because that would bring it to market sooner. (Feb 2013 sounds about right, too.)

so how bout that Fallout 4?
BanBrother  +   715d ago
Next gen Fallout 4. I could not see myself excited for a current gen one, as it couldn't be that much of an improvement over 3 or New Vegas.

Love to see more alpha effects in Fallout 4, as the immersion would be amazing.

Didn't a Redguard game come out about 15 years ago? I can't remember if it was an expansion to Daggerfall or a standalone, but I'm pretty sure there was a game with that name released already.
