Capcom and Ninja Theory feel DmC: Devil May Cry will sate the brutality lust of series fans, while teaching newcomers a few of the high level techniques otherwise confined to certain terrifying Youtube videos.
Looking forward to playing through the game to see how it holds up to the previous games.
Well, we already know how it holds up to previous games but I guess you need to spend $60 bucks to confirm what every original DMC has been saying since this abomination was revealed at TGS 2010. This game is dumbed down, broken, casualized, bastardized and westernized crap. DMC has always been about deep/complex gameplay and challenging enemies. CAPCOM is really desperate to sell this game and that this why they are spewing all these ridiculous lies and using their "media to brainwash us." LOL!
And here we go again, someone is excited about the game only to be shot down in flames by those who want the game to fail for their own reasons. It's not enough they don't want to get the game, they have to make sure nobody else wants it too.
Homie, Have several seats. Why the fuck do you care, its not your $64.57 That's being spent? I swear the Bitchy Fans Here on this community are among the worst, 3 Years and numerous changes since its initial trailer and you still Bitch. Stay away from the game and play something else.
"Homie, Have several seats." Being this edgy. "Why the fuck do you care, its not your $64.57 That's being spent? " Thinking it's about his crappy money and not another iconic franchise going under to serve the casual try hard cool and edgy tards.... "I swear the Bitchy Fans Here on this community are among the worst" Definitely not bitching about others "bitching" at every opportunity he gets. "Stay away from the game and play something else." Being this arrogant on top of all that ignorance... This is nothing but pathetic at best.
@ Sevir We original fans care because of these people we will not be getting a proper and genuine DMC game. We are still "bitching" because nothing has improved since the original trailer except Donte's appearance. I am talking about GAMEPLAY, MECHANICS and CHALLENGE. These are quintessential elements of a DMC game and DmC lacks all of these. The ranking system is broken, enemies are dumb, boss fights are flat, gamplay has been severely dumbed down and button layout is stupid. Do you even care about what makes a DMC game? Or are you in it only for the "Fxxx YOU!!!" scenes?
@mikemeyers i'm looking forward to the next just dance game. I CANT FREAKING WAIT. this next one is going to have DANCING! HEEYYY Macarana!
Awesome! I heard the Wii U version will support this: http://arstechnica.com/gami... It's about time I brought them out of the crawlspace. Let me know if you want to play co-op.
Again what is it to any of you if I'm excited for a game that none of you care for, and attacking me and calling me ignorant, its funny. And this other thing of calling yourselves original fans of the franchise as if it has anything to do with the matter of me buying and enjoying the game. None of you whinny gamers know my gaming history, so please don't try to disenfranchise someone because they don't share your opinion. Trust me when I say, I don't give 2 fucks about your reasons for hating the game and ill never go out of my way to attack anyone over their opinions. So let's try to be mature here and respect my difference in opinion with you all. If you can't then as I said in my previous comment, "Have Several Fuckin Seats" **Resumes Playing PSABR**
"New Devil May Cry will teach casuals the "magic" of pro gaming, entry bar "is very low"" T__T Are they even trying anymore? A very low bar to "pro" gaming - IN NOT FREAKIN PRO GAMING!!! PR quotes this gaming gen - especially from Capcom - have been nothing but utter nonsensical, contridictive crap!
Hell or Hell mode: All enemies are just as hard as they would be in Dante Must Die mode. Dante dies in one hit. Sounds pretty "pro" to me...
Hell or Hell mode was in DMC4 thou. Not sure how that differentiate the new dmc from the past ones.
That's been in there since at least DMC 3.
Hell or Hell mode: All enemies are just as hard as they would be in Dante Must Die mode. Dante dies in one hit. " The normal mode of old DMC is more hard than this new modes. lol
edit *Pro to *Unfair.
Not so "pro" when they give you a huge invincible frame while dodging, infinite air judging & freaking brokenly cheap demon dodge.
He was talking about new player to the series that the entry bar is low,if the series was selling well for capcom they wouldn't had to change it,so deal with it,i played dmc 3 and 4 and they didn't impress me,actully this version really caught my attention
"if the series was selling well for capcom they wouldn't had to change it" The reception to the reboot, on the day of its announcement, was more than enough to change their mind regarding the direction or even the whole idea of rebooting the franchise. And sales were more than enough for a niche series like Devil May Cry. Stop trying to defend Crapcom and their sh*t practices. You are talking about the company that cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 because there wasn't enough "interest" in their DevRoom bullsh*t, which literally asked gamers to "make" the game. "i played dmc 3 and 4 and they didn't impress me" In other words; "I have horrible taste in literally everything and those two great games weren't edgy enough for me but as soon as I saw the reboot, I immediately fell in love with its horrible They Live ripoff writing that already falls short along with its mediocre gameplay features and piss easy difficulty." Your kind is the sole reason that 7th console generation sucked. ----------------------------- --- "All enemies are just as hard as they would be in Dante Must Die mode. Dante dies in one hit." "Sounds pretty "pro" to me..." Being this ignorant...
"if the series was selling well for capcom they wouldn't had to change it,so deal with it" DMC4 sold 2 million. Do they think changing the character and making it easier will score them Halo numbers?
Yeah 2 million across 3 platforms over a 5 year period. Funny how there's so "many" people against the new dmc but it seems like a lot of you never even bought dmc4 in the first place. The series got stale PERIOD. DMC4 is just a good combat engine stuck inside a completely mediocre game. Whiny entitled posers. For people who have no interest in the game, you sure show a lot of it. See ya on day one. edit: desperate? says the guy who sits on n4g refreshing for dmc articles all day long so he can tell us his story over and over and over again about how he has no interest in a game. And you did nothing to actually refute what I said. 2 million across 3 platforms over 5 years is still a FACT unlike your day one unjustified whiny bias. Its by no means a bad number, but for a franchise that is supposedly huge its way below expectation. face it DMC4 was just average at best, if it was a roaring critical and financial success wouldn't capcom just of copy and pasted dmc5 ASAP ? oh wait, no but capcom cant do anything right? so nevermind. Cant wait for the next "big" franchise that "everyone" "loves" LOL. bunch of bandwagoners. Your'e like the 10 year olds who say "wwe attitude era beatz the shit out of PG!!" even though they were born after it.
Nice and desperate try . DmC 4 not only was released eons later on PC , but with hardly any high expectations . By the way DMC4 did 1 million on ps3 and 900 000 on 360 during the FIRST 3 MONTHS of it's shelf life . It's downright pathetic that the only way to defend the new game , is by trying to dismiss any previous achievements . If you wanna play that little game , NT is the one looking weak here (not even a million on enslaved on 2 platforms ? ) Anyway you can twisthowever you want , sales were good , only behind the allmighty god of war series , and Capcom never even hinted at any issues with projected numbers and real sales figures . They just obviously want more . But then again i know your only rebutal " Whiners , see you on day one!"
@Blacktric DMC4 was not a great game. The only good DMC games have been the original game (one of the best games ever made) and the third game DMC3 (better combat). DMC2 & 4 sucked though.
Sure, DMC4 wasn't a great game and it certainly wasn't the best in the series, but to say that the game (or the series as a whole) didn't sell well is just laughable. The series has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. Those at the sorts of numbers that many devs only dream of.
Fuck me,so many pissed about my opinion, wow get a life,i didn't know i have to think like all of you
Stop playing the victim , some of the comment were even a replay to blacksmoke instead of you . You have the right to your opinions , so do others . It's a comment section it's there for that . You dont have to think like anyone
casual gamers are really hurting games
No the industry's response to the concept of casual gaming is. "Casual gamer" itself is non-existent. An excuse for devs to lower standards and expectations in the hope such will generate sales. Space Invaders and Donkey Kong were casual games!
pro gaming related to single player? sorry wut? I hate these recent elitist tryhard kids who have infected SP gaming with this "it has to be hard as possible or its not worth playing" elitist view.
Vastly exagerated . You know very well it's about people feeling , rightfully or not , that the franchise is loosing its core values and essence . Not (all) people saying "noobs should stfu and stay out of it" DMC 1-4 could be actually easy enough via some glitchs and exploits or the already existing easy modes , but it was known for having a wealth and depth of challenging stuff , in the game's mission AND the fighting mechanics . Some of us feel that in DMC everything is there for new blood , indeed , but not a lot for vétérans . Finally people dont stay beginners all their lives , some would have tried the game on harder mode , why prevent them from experiencing the original challenge from the get go and by design with a apparently watered down version ? More choices and option are taken away imo than added here
can thes "journalist" please just shut up with these BS stories from capcom, and NT and just let the game come out these guys are apart of whats so annoying about this game.
Capcom-ruining all of its franchises....
you can call me crapcom the franchise killer has a nice ring to it dont you think?
Why did they even reboot the DMC franchise? There was nothing wrong with it.
Judging by whats happened with RE they probably didn't know what the f*ck to do with the next DmC so they chucked it to NT to develop.
A shrewd move considering that if it does well, Capcom get a pat on the back and if it goes wrong they just point at NT. Can't fault em on their sneaky tactics.
Nothing wrong with it?!? Did you play DMC4?!?!?!?! There were many things wrong with it!
I'd say that was the decision to go multiplatform. originally it was PS3 exclusive but last minute they decided to go multi which resulted in rushing to product. There was so much more they wanted to do but couldn't.
There were things wrong with DMC4, sure. But that didn't warrant a complete reboot imo. There is still so much that can be explored in the original DMC lore, especially in regards to Sparta and whether or not Vergil is still alive. It's not like DMC4 completely sunk the series' ship with no chance of revival.
@CrowTRobot..You're right!!..it was boring!!....can't wait to play this reboot!
Yeah, like how it was only half a game that you had to play through twice. Still, they could have just fixed that instead of replacing Dante with some emo.
The back tracking was the only thing that really annoyed me.
And DMC2.... so that's 2 good games out of 4 total. but...everything was perfect before mind you. Perhaps they didn't need to reboot the story but honestly the story was becoming way waaaaaay too convoluted anyway-especially with the introduction of Nero.
Fuck you capcom
No better way to get into 'pro gaming' than through a single player game.
If capcom wants to show me magic release either a brand new onimusha game or an hd collection. That or a breath of fire game, you got plenty of good older ips you haven't even touched this gen.
I want a new Onimusha but they will ruin it. Just about all the franchises they brought back they ruined. They would get some below average western developer to make the game.
Considering the way alot of older capcom series have been handled this gen your probably right, we can still dream though.
leave onimusha alone, i want a new one but i can already see what would happen, just let it die in peace
Calvin isn't getting another penny from me until they start apologising for their arrogance and making up for all the crap they threw at us this gen.
So people who are already good at hack n slash should avoid this game because normal is like super easy, and hard is easy?
@ Blacktric (2.2.1) : you sir are a disgrace and the fact that you get away with it is disappointing.+ are you talking about the Capcom that gave us Asura's Wrath and Dragons Dogma?
Capcom gave us Dragons Dogma, Cyberconnect2 gave us Asura's Wrath. I give more credit for developing rather then publishing. Whereas this lies within the problem with Ninja Theory with DmC they are not known for making good gameplay mechanics their better off at making a game like Heavy Rain or Indigo Prophecy.
I thought the demo was pretty good.. Im still not buying it unless it receives great feedback from the majority of reviewers.. Im still skeptical about it
Does someone actually believe this makes sense? ... well, a few above do, apparently. I'm sure the game will be decent. But I'm not buying it. Probably won't even pick it up used. Feel free to make excuses for Capcom and Ninja Theory, but there IS no excusing how they've treated DMC fans during the development of this game. I'll still check out reviews and see if it's worth it, but so far, most of what I've heard hasn't rung true.
I am not saying that dmc 4 did not have it's faults because I have clearly not played through the game myself(but I own a copy for the ps3), but dmc 4 became a greatest hits title in all three major regions. If dmc 4 is a best seller throughout the world why on earth would anyone with a brain at capcom(if any people that uses their brains actually exist at capcom) think the series needed a reboot? I mean seriously capcom? I just got into the series when the dmc triple pack for the ps2 was released, & even though I just sampled each of the 4 dmc games that I own(but plan to play through all of them in the future) I can't for the life of me figure out why capcom needed to reboot the franchise in the first place especially since dmc 4 was a best seller throughout the world. And then to add insult to injury hand one of their top franchises to a developer that has so far this generation produced back to back mediocre titles. I mean enslaved was pretty good at times but eventually the game just got really dumb and repetitive near the end of the game in which the game fell sort of flat and dumb at the end (especially that stupid annoying end boss voice at the end is what really ruined it for me & the lack of more varied enemies concerning the latter part of the game). But I am going off topic too much. The only reason that I can think of capcom pulling a stupid stunt like this concerning one of their top franchises is because of them being a greedy scroogemiester!!!. I will explain : after developing back to back flops ninja theory was desperate enough to put up the lowest development cost bid to capcom out of any of the other potential developers that would produce the future dmc game at the time. This in turn got nt the winning bid for the future dmc project. Knowing how filthy, greedy, & stupid capcom has gotten this gen that has gotten to such disgusting levels that I could not even fathom was possible to reach in such a short period of time. Anyway taking that into account in which investing the least & maximizing the most profit in the short term at the expense of throwing your long time supporters to the wind while in turn risking it all by trying to nab the casual crowd which has been no more relevant than the casual's fad concerning the wii at this moment. With this mindset capcom decided that the best way to maximize profit the most(or making the quick buck)in the short term is to appeal to the nearly non-existant casual crowd all the while screwing over long time supporters in favor of the quick cash-in all the while investing the least amount no matter if it ruins the franchise or ticks off long time supporters. The same thing has already happened to us long time biohazard/resident evil supporters years ago since re 4 released, it has just recently happened to us mega man supporters also(in a similar way), & now it is about to happen to devil may cry long time supporters as well. I really feel sorry for all of capcom's long time supporters because I am one of them in which I know how it feels to get backstabbed by capcom(which use to be for many, many years one of my top favorite game developers). devil may cry long time supporters are about to experience what other long time capcom supporters have experienced for years now. Capcom clearly has the wrong people running the company in recent times. Capcom is clearly only in it for the high risk moronic quick cash in now a days with no room for anything positive that benefits the loyalty, love, care, & genuine creativity + interest that the company used to have concerning video games.
