GamaSutra - As THQ looks to hand itself over to a new owner, a number of its creditors have come forward to oppose the bankruptcy and takeover plans, calling them "unfair and unreasonable."
THQ filed for bankruptcy last month, and revealed that Clearlake Capital Group is fronting $60 million to acquire its business, including its development studios and all of its games currently in development.
Alex & Mike talk Biomutant, a game from Experiment 101/THQ Nordiq you likely have not heard of. While the AAA side of the industry tends to homogenization and imitative, cinematic presentation, “AA” games remain creative and innovative in 2021. Drawing on inspirations as varied as Dark Souls, third person shooters & kung fu cinema, Biomutant is Ratchet & Clank on acid, developed by a team of 20 people.
Remember THQ? They published such games as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Darksiders I & II, the Destroy All Humans series, Homefront, the Red Faction series, and Saint's Row 1-3. Almost as famous as their games were the THQ marketing stunts, including a Golden Wii.
PlaySation gamers are in for a treat today! Not only did Sony roll out its “Double Discount” PlayStation Store sale, but there’s also a THQ Humbe Bundle PS4 discount happening too!
THQ is almost irrelevant now anyway.....for years they banked of kiddy liscensed games and in the end it got them no where. WWE games have declined year after year and the few IP's they fully created Like Darksiders, Metro etc aren't selling or arent extremely hyped. Plus the fact they barely even make games on Nintendo platforms sure as hect isnt helping them when Nintendo has the biggest install base in homes be it DS, Wii or 3DS.......that's way to much money left on the table from a business perspective. They put themselves in this hole, and honestly no matter who buys them, in the end the outlook looks dim at best.
