A hapless man struggles on the floor, only to get a shotgun round blasted to his face. Then, thunderous applause fills the auditorium.
edit: Ignore this comment, the writer of this article has integrity. Bubble to you, sir, although I would have put 'explains' and removed the 'to'. :)
agreed and fixed .
''I don't really like the violence in this game. It just seem tasteless. I just wish they went with the "uncharted" type of violence. There is no gory violence in the uncharted series and that what make that series shine. I just wish Naughty Dog didn't go this childish route. Im still hype for this game but i just don't like the violent part of the game. I just hope there an option to disable this.
I know you like to go against everyone, but you have got to be kidding right? I will not even try to explain to you why it's violent. You have shown enough ignorance by not even reading the article. My gift to you. http://i.minus.com/ijlpAErx... Sincerely everyone.
Plus it is optional.
Civilization is collapsing, there's lawlessness and plagues out taking over entire cities. It's sapposed to be violent and gritty.
i love that gif feel so real
Can't stop watching this GIF.
Lol "Childish route" wtf are you talking about this isn't Uncharted the whole point of the game is violence they have to survive and fend for them selfs.
-Mika-, just give it a rest already. LOL
"Im still hype for this game but i just don't like the violent part of the game. I just hope there an option to disable this." My friend knows a guy whose cousin's brother knows a chick that works at ND. The "Grandma" mode for The Last of Us will replace blood with milk and drown out cussing with the sound of a squealing panda.
"Im still hype for this game but i just don't like the violent part of the game. I just hope there an option to disable this." .... Im not even going to bother trying to figure out how you came to think that this would EVER be a possibility... Just no. Even for you there has to be a typo there. There just has to be. You cant have seriously thought they would remove a good portion of the gameplay because its violent -_-
I think she meant a blood and gore option, which still won't happen.
@Enemy I get that... But at the same time this games target audience is not one that needs this option. If your stomach cant take some blood and gore then you are not part of that audience... There are exceptions to what I said. But broadly speaking that's how it should work.
What are you talking about you're snapping peoples necks in Uncharted all the time lol. Pulling them off ledges to their doom and shooting them in the face with whatever the heck you can find. Just because Uncharted isn't particularly bloody doesn't mean it's not violent. Besides its a game about survival it's got to have violence at some point if they want a fairly believable story.
The absence of gore is not what makes Uncharted shine. It does, however, suit the narrative and the style of the game. The same goes for The Last of Us and having violence. I'm hyped for the next NBA game, but I really wish they would leave out the basketball. Or at least give us an option to disable it... Not entirely comparable, but you get the point.
You just went full retard.
Never go full retard.
Unbelievable comment. Survival action-adventure and expecting flamboyant violence like in Uncharted? Good logic Mika. The material this game is based off and the genre it is placed in screams for the vibe an violence that we've seen so far. There's nothing childish about its implementation. It suits the tension, grounds the characters and is realistic more than anything else. The developers have stated that the beauty in The Last of Us is the contrast between the violence (which is grounded and necessary) and silence (adventure sequences, in-game narrative excursions, cutscenes). We also have known for a long time that you can approach the game pacifistically to a large extent. Sneak past enemies, as a less brave survivor would or smash their lights out as a seasoned survivor. Whether it's tasteless violence is dependent on your viewpoint and approach and what you would do if you were Joel in The Last of Us.
Dear oh dear, Mika, you really do struggle to hide your bias. It's funny because I just mentioned in another thread how the violence would be used to put this game down. I edited it though because the author of the piece kindly changed the headline to something more grown up. 'My friend knows a guy whose cousin's brother knows a chick that works at ND. The "Grandma" mode for The Last of Us will replace blood with milk and drown out cussing with the sound of a squealing panda.' LOL. Excellent work there, Logic.
Well the difference between the violence in the last of us is it looks like it will have an emotional impact on the player when they kill someone. Even watching the E3 demo made me feel a bit uncomfortable at the end when the guy pleads for his life only to be shot in the face by Joel. On top of that Elle was cowering in the corner of the room watching it happen which made it have even more of an impact IMO. The game wouldn't work without violence anyway as it wouldn't be believable. The aim of the game is to survive and protect Elle and therefore you will have to kill people before they kill you for supplies etc.
@mika " I just hope there an option to disable this." lol
Believe it or not, alot of games have the option to turn Gore and blood off. Even Resident Evil had the option to turn blood green instead of Red
A helpless man that would probably rape Ellie/kill Joel if given the chance to see them again. The shotgun blast was justified.
people on this sight will never change anything about anything game related ever. naughty dog has millions of fans and this site is like 1/100th of a percent.
I'm sorry but Mika's comment killed me :D
Why the fuck are people complaining about violence in this game? It's a post apocalyptic environment where humans have started to become infected and you are being chased by these infected humans as well as other human beings who are trying to survive. It's everyone for themselves, there are no friends and there are no allies. You either kill to stay alive or you get fucking killed by those who are trying to survive.
Got to keep myself alive. Better kill everyone.
That's not what I ment. God damnit dude, what I am trying to say is that people are willing to do ANYTHING to stay alive, and if that means turning to violent actions in order to sustain survival then so be it. Violence in this game is absolutely necessary because of the fact that supplies are scarce and people are willing to do anything to get the edge. Where the hell did I even say that you're supposed to kill everyone? I'm pretty sure Naughty Dog even said that something like 80% of the violence is avoidable if you sneak around your enemies.
People brag about things that they don't know anything about. I said it before and I will say it again, it is optional. It is your own choice, whether you want to blast everybody's face and take all the supplies they had, or go stealthy and try to not take any damage.
Okay let's look at it logically. If you were trapped in a broken city full of monsters that were once human hunting you down with scavengers everywhere who are more then willing slaughter you down for whatever little you have to help you survive that and out your supplies you would most likely be a sitting duck are you telling me you wouldn't become violent and vicious? People always talk as if at humanity's brink of destruction and chaos that somehow you will remain calm, clear headed and serene and won't be bashing people's brains in or at least thinking about doing it to survive. Yeah I am so sure the people complaining wouldn't get violent at all. It's just a desperate struggle to survive. You can just ask the monsters and desperate scavengers politely to give you food and water and leave you alone.
I hope they don't change anything on the violence. Don't react to the stupid school shooting. It had nothing to do with videogames. Don't let that idiot ruin games. Parents should start doing a better job when it comes to games their kids play. They have to start taking responsibility for what their kids play. All games have ratings. If your kids are too young don't let them play violent games.
can't wait for this game
Violence fits the narrative. And I welcome it. BUT. It is still a story (and expected lay going to be a great one). And those here for the story should be allowed the CHANCE to enjoy it, and a simple blood and gore filter isn't all out of reason. I can understand why someone might be turned off by a mans skull being blown off, with nice little bone fragments mixed in (gravy...).
