Joystiq Top 10 of 2012: Dishonored

Joystiq - Dishonored is a convoluted work, and key in reclaiming the word "convoluted" for the purposes of praise. Simplicity has a place in the finest games, but sometimes you just want to get wrapped up in things. A scarf metaphor might have gone here, had it not come from the paranoia induced by Dishonored's deadly contempt for unshielded necks. (Dishonored, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Dishonored was easily my favorite surprise of 2012. I'd known about the game since GameInformer did a cover story many, many months ago and I went "meh". I knew almost nothing about the game but a suggestion from a friend (he and I grew up playing games like Thief, Deus Ex, and System Shock) made me try it. I'm glad I did. Hopefully there's a sequel with more powers and larger areas.
