Let’s Go Back To Final Fantasy Tactics. Oh, What An Intro This Game Had

Kotaku: Now, at the start of 2013, I am going to play it. I'll be playing the PSP version of the game, writing about it here, talking with our resident FFT expert Jason Schreier, and generally taking us all on a trip back to Ivalice (for the first time.)

But before all that, I wanted to share and talk about the freakin' intro to the game, which is one of the most gorgeous and interesting opening cinematics I've ever seen. Everything is just outstanding, from the Bells of Mystery to the Disney Build of "Square Enix Presents" to the Triumphal Theme of "Welcome To The Main Menu." Last week, I was raging about this intro to Jason, and his response: "They don't make 'em like this anymore." (Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, PSP)

This game has the best FF story period. The gameplay is hard and dated, but the element of epic is strong in this game.

Instead of Sprits Within Square should have tried to make a movie about this game with real life actors. It would have worked and been nominated for an Oscar.

I LOVE this game. But my one beef with it (especially on a quick play portable system) is with intro/story/character creation/tutorial/more story you need an hour to get to your first chance to save!
One of my fave games ever though.

One of the most mature games out there. Also, one of the best.

I praise the scenes where Delita and Ramza would produce a collision of their ideals both understanding each other on a philosophical level, but yet had their own motives and catalysts to advance their personal quest.

It's interesting how the original versions of similarly mature games were always too ambitious for their time, thus they were incomplete towards the end (i.e. Xenogears, FFT, FFXII).

You can't rush inspiration. And FFT surely had that, thanks to Matsuno-sama.

I've sunk hours upon hours on this gem, since the ps1 to the PSP and I'm getting it on vital as soon as I can get one.

Its not easy building two sword knights on every fighter and actually made all of my characters dark knights with double swords not an easy thing to do.
