"Prospects for the PS Vita in 2013 don't look any rosier. We will continue to see increased competition from ever-more-powerful smartphones and tablets, many priced less than the PS Vita." Really? show me One tablet or phone cheaper than a Ps Vita that has the power and type of games that the vita has. And phones with 2 year plans dont apply
What you said right there is almost exactly what I thought as I read it. There are now tablets such as kindle fire HD that are cheaper than the vita but in terms of their power and ability to play games they don't even come close to touching the vita. And 2013 is looking up; I've seen more people with vita's/buying them instore etc than at any other point during the year recently (thank god) and just because 3rd party publishers other than ubisoft wont take the plunge sony have enough 1st parties to hold it afloat on their own-althouh the sales predictions sony had were insane anyway- I'm not sure the ps3 even sold 14 million in 1 year...
The price points on tablet and phones will go down. Specifically, tablets. But, games and exclusives are the strenghts of the VITA (despite those who think on the contrary). The thing ppl over look is the quality that goes into VITA games like UC:GA, Gravity Rush, etc. and how much more of those games there are and will be on the VITA compared to any mobile/tablet operating system you can name. 3DS is the only competition in that respect, but in the end both libraries will vary enough and prices on system will be low enough where consumer can enjoy having both devices and experiences. Don't forget, no other device can do cross-buy, cross-controller, cross-play, etc because they have no other ecosystem like the one VITA has.
yeah I'm sure given 2-3 years it's price will be low enough to justify impulse buys and it will sell at a steady stream, tbh I think sony said most of what it said for investors benift's and never really expected those figures their coments on being after the core of the core gamers just before vita's release
I'll judge it after it's had a Price drop.
