Year in Review 2012: After an amazing year, these are industry specialists to watch

Persson is one of the most successful indie-developers of his time and 2012 was an amazing year for the developer. Creator of the hit title ‘Minecraft’ and co-founder of Mojang, this young developer turned one game into an instant PC legend. Minecraft has sold over 17 million copies on PC and the Xbox 360, including sales from the ‘Pocket Edition’ for mobile devices. The Xbox 360 version of the game launched on May 9, 2012 and has already sold over 5 million copies alone. Persson has won numerous awards for his work on Minecraft and is one of the most beloved developers in his field.

i don't the list is the nicest, or the best, or most loved. I think it's people that (good or bad) made an impact this year and are expected to make a large impact next year.

As great as his work on Cloud and Flower were, it was Austin Wintory that did Journey (and flOw previously), it's Austin's work that's being nominated for a Grammy.

Not a bad list. Even though I kind of don't think lists are feature-worthy, and think this should have been a blog. Don't agree with Notch. Sure he's made an impact with updates, re-releases and sales this year he's still last years model. Agree especially much with Thatgamecompany. Austin Winstory could have taken a point of his own.
