1UP writes: "We first saw Metal Slug 7 at the Tokyo Game Show, where it debuted and caused a stir because of its shift from the arcade to handhelds. Back then, though, the game was only a brief demo. This week, at an SNK press event, it was much richer, with multiple stages to play through, letting us get a better feel for how it may turn out.
The core game hasn't changed, which is good: the controls remain the same from the TGS demo, and the funky combo gauge on the bottom screen remains. And it's still unquestionably a Metal Slug game: a mess of bullets, explosions, surprise deaths, and humongous mechanical bosses. We're glad to see all that replicated on the DS, running as well as it could have on hulking old Neo Geo".
