The XBLIG: White Noise: A Tale of Horror Review

The XBLIG: Let’s just get it out in the open. It is impossible to mention White Noise: A Tale of Horror (80 MSP) or any of the harm / good it does, without first invoking Slender. Their two cores are so intrinsically-linked that it’s not out of order for you to call White Noise a straight-up rip-off. It is. It’s also a no-brainer. I can say I entirely don’t mind a console version (unoriginal as it may be) that can replicate the fear the indie PC release did such a masterful job at creating.

Horror games have become a dime a dozen now and frankly, aren’t that scary either. One only has to look at what Resident Evil used to be like, and what it’s become. It’s gone from Survival Horror to Action Third Person Shooter with Zombies. True there are some games such as Amnesia: Dark Descent who are flying the flag for truly scary games but they are few and far between. So where does White Noise fall? Surprisingly, and thankfully, it falls firmly into the latter. This is not a game to be played with the lights out.

That pretty much does sum up the game perfectly. Slender for 360. Still really enjoyable though
