It's exceedingly rare to find a game that manages to successfully meld solid first-person shooting mechanics with a truly open world experience, but Far Cry nails both genres and combines them into one of the year's finest games.
I was nervous about the release of this game as I fell in love with it instantly when they showed Vaas explaining the definition of insanity. Good job Ubi for making a thoroughly fantastic game.
I've never played a Far Cry game in my life but last week I went to my friends house and he had it so I gave it a go.. Wow.. I did not expect the game to be THAT good. I thought it would be meh its okay but I actually enjoyed the game.. a lot. Props to Ubi.
Everything in the game was awesome.. shooting mechanics, story, the island itself, hell even the soundtrack. And big props to the developers for FINALLY giving me an offline co-op option, not enough of those these days.
I would have bought this game a while ago. But the screen tearing on PS3 (or maybe just consoles in general) has put me off. I'm tired of buying into the hype, to only find out I've bought a shoddy product *cough* Skyrim *cough*.
I would agree on Skyrim but if you can get it on PC I honestly could not suggest a better game.
I'd get it on PC if I could, but I don't have a gaming PC and my laptop can barely run minecraft lol.
Yep it does tear terrible & has bad jaggies on console, but like the other person says its great on PC, costs enough to play it maxed out, but if you want the best you have to pay for it.
Just wait a few months before getting it, those issues will mostly be patched out by then. I got skyrim on ps3 recently and the game runs just fine after the patches. That's why I never get games around launch anyway. You can get a better game for a better price if you wait a while.
The last thrid of FC3 is really bad. I was sure this was in my top 3 games of 2012 before I finished it, but damn I just don't love it as much. Great game though, 2012 has been a strange year. Almost no one could wrap up their stories decently. The only games that I played this year that managed to wrap up their stories well, were walking dead and hotline miami.
FAR CRY 3 > halo 4
Single player campaign wise, yes. But no where near close enough in the areas such as story or multiplayer. In terms of gameplay regarding the campaign though, it is definitely brilliant and better.
Far Cry 3 > The world of video games
Halo 4, but its definitely shooter of the year. I enjoyed both but there's something special about far cry 3
I haven't completed Far Cry 3 yet but wow, what a game. It's beautiful... I guess the reason why I haven't completed the story is because I'm so interested in checking out everything about the actual island. Halo 4 is another pick of mine though, amazing.
Max Payne 3 and Final Fantasy 13-2 are both game of the year worthy. I haven't played Journey nor Far Cry 3 yet. Halo 4 is a decent game but I don't consider it to be game of the year material.
max payne 3 is mostly cut scene final fantasy 13-2 LOL
I recommend Forget fps and screen tearing and enjoy!
This is how a shooter should be made of. New elements - Better graphics - better gameplay and all that stuff. Far Cry,Battlefield and stuff are deserving 25 Million Sold units cause they are quality. But what are the kids of this Gen doing? Buying the Copy+Paste shooter CoD is - Nothing new, copy+paste,an Engine from 1999 and SubHD...Awesome way to support lazy developers and destroying gaming. Cause if games like FC3 would sell those big numbers Acticasualism would need to adjust the quality of their garbage CoD Franchise to the others.
