Lens of Truth Writes "Welcome back for another exciting Head2Head! This week we take a closer look at Capcom’s DmC: Devil May Cry Demo for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Come join us as we compare one of the most anticipate game release this year."
WOW did Xbox 360 just get spanked?
Anyone who thinks DmC is worthy of the DMC name, that it anything more than okay, needs to be spanked.
Chill out and give the game a chance? I was kind of on the same boat as you when it came to Metal Gear Rising, but at the end of the day they both look like they will be great titles in their own right despite their franchise name on the box. OT: I'm not massively surprised at this to be honest. After all Enslaved looked great on PS3 and Heavenly Sword was a gorgeous game for it's time too, so Ninja Theory are properly familiar with the PS3 more so than most 3rd party teams. What does surprise me is the complete lack of lighting effects, shadows, and in the CCTV camera screen, completely absent textures in the 360 demo. Time will tell whether the gold retail version will carry the same issues as the demo has for the 360.
I fail to see why this new DMC is so controversial. The DMC series always had garbage characters in garbage stories with mediocre art design and game direction. Their selling point was the gameplay... and -nothing- else. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too soon to start whining about it.
@Canary I don't see what the massive fuss is about either. When i played the demo it still felt like DMC, it played great and the art style is still alternate-reality hell/gothic. When you actually see the game in motion i don't see what the big deal is and i love the DMC games.
i thought in this time of consoles dev would know everything about both ps3 and xbox360 but this is just one of the many reasons why most 3rd party dev this gen are the laziest devs in gaming history instead of working on both consoles so both get the same treat and look good they just port their games from one console to the other and call it a day
More like whiners need to be spanked.
Needless radical change when the only major issue fans were complaining about in the wake of DMC4 was more content. Not Dante going back the way Nero came and fighting the same bosses, but rather more maps and bosses. Then on top of that Ninja Theory's ego forces them to say they'll do better than the original, only to fail on a basic like lock on. How does that not register with people trying to defend this game? How do you even attempt to present valid counter-points when you know nothing of the argument itself? The only thing more nonsensical are the people who are now going to start lording the "superior" version of this so-so title. I mean you're not wrong in calling prior DMC stories and plots garbage Canary, but the thing is they were entertaining garbage. This is a try at being entertaining if not amusing: http://www.youtube.com/watc... And this is just pretentious, IMO: http://www.youtube.com/watc... And then again in the gameplay itself, so far as has been seen and experienced, its just not as good.
@Canary "The DMC series always had garbage characters in garbage stories with mediocre art design and game direction. Their selling point was the gameplay... and -nothing- else" You forgot to mention garbage dialogue to go along with its 4-game-long garbage story. Fast, flashy, sword-and-gun gameplay was its only selling point, something, though considerably different, is still there. The "true fans" like pretending that DMC was more than that, unfortunately (considering its potential), it wasn't. Just as I did with all the other DMC's, I'll play DmC and decide for myself if i like it or not.
"mediocre art design and game direction" Being this desperate to look intelligent. Being this ignorant to the fact that Devil May Cry 1 and 3 had one of the best art designs of the generation. Being this ignorant to the fact that both games, again, had one of the best game direction of the generation that held gameplay over any other crap. _____________________________ ______ "Fast, flashy, sword-and-gun gameplay was its only selling point, something, though considerably different, is still there. The "true fans" like pretending that DMC was more than that, unfortunately (considering its potential), it wasn't. " Yeah no, it's not. And stop acting like you know why "real fans" are mad considering you have no clue what you're talking about regarding the gameplay features and what "real fans" thought of what actual Devil May Cry games offered.
-So unbelievably wrong, good thing it's Sunday and no one cares. >:}
More trolls that never played DMC games.
Whoa, that's surprising. PS3 is the clear winner here. Weird, considering Unreal Engine 3 and all. Still have no interest in this trash though.
The Unreal Engine is a peculiar one... I guess it entirely depends on what the devs want from it and how they actually implement it. Some games in UE3 look terrible on PS3, most games are roughly the same as each other, then you get some stand-outs like the Batman games that just manage to make the engine look amazing. I imagine that will be something to think about with UE4 when it becomes popularly used in future titles, to fine tune the engine to run as smoothly as possibly with all different genres, teams and platforms.
topic a little bit. People have been telling Sony to drop the CELL because devs said it's too hard. This just proves my point that it really just comes down to the developers. Had Capcom handled this DMC, it would probably look better on 360. I think Ninja theory would have done better staying exclusive. It might have seems like the most logical choice at the time, but I think they've left a bitter taste in some ps3 owner's mouths. Especially since they moved away from their own engine and adopted UNreal Engine.
@Muerte The screenshot with the security camera looks like a typical Unreal Engine 3 case of where textures haven't loaded properly. It tends to have a delay with that sometimes, in games like Mass Effect and many other UE3 titles. I don't see why you are getting disagrees for that comment btw.
By the sound of things NT burned too much starter cash on Heavenly Sword's production, which also lent towards difficulty with CELL architecture. But even back then they exemplified the pride and ego of devs who couldn't admit that they had issues. Could only say that they were going to shape how HD gaming was done. Which is why they're now relying on UE3 which still has its problems.
"WOW did Xbox 360 just get spanked." I dunno about spanked but there's some seriously missing textures and details on the cameras which is sad lol. But the rest looks pretty even. Some of the lighting is executed better on Xbox and details on Dante's face is clearer on Xbox. That's about it though. Lol the cameras on the Xbox screen is still laughable.
not exactly. The Xbox version has better lighting (that's why it looks brighter) while the PS3 has some fog effect that the other version doesn't have.
Like it's made of Alluminum. Better lighting, I doubt that since Frostbite 2 (lighting intensive) engine, run better on ps3 compared to Xbox360. I don't know about LENSofTruth though, I tend to wait and see Digital FOundry's assessment.
is the 360 version really that bad? I know of the texture pop in, but 360 is having problems with that?
It's not that bad. I honestly think the Xbox 360 version is still the way to go with this because it runs on stable 30FPS, while on the PS3 it drop during battles and the PS3 also experience some severe screen tearing at times. Look at these two videos to get an idea of what I mean. Xbox 360: http://www.youtube.com/watc... PS3: http://www.youtube.com/watc... If you have a PS3 and Xbox 360 and want the game for nice graphics, the PS3 is obviously the way to go. But for a much smoother experience, you'd probably want the 360. But that's up to you to do decide.
Say a lot about this site, you wasn't trolling and as far as I can see you was stating facts and yet 20 disagrees wow
ps3 version to pick up and the 360 port is not bad also
Considering this is only a demo comparison somethings can be forgiven but if this is indicative of the retail release its Ps3 all the way. Slightly off topic but which version of Enslaved looked better? The 360 or Ps3? Might be just NT are more comfortable with Ps3.
it was a mixed, but I would say it played better on 360. There's an in depth comparison explaining how each version is developed differently. They did some interesting things with the ps3, but 360 had an overall better performance.
this is why i always buy multiplats on ps3 (if i had a awesome pc i would buy most of them on it)
is anyone planning on buying this game, with all the other amazing games coming out early next year? Come on guys..plus if the reboot doesn't sell that will force capcom to do DMC5, a REAL devil may cry game
I hope capcom doesn't do a dmc5. Big fan of the old series. But the way the fanboys have been saying crap about capcom. They don't deserve a dmc5.
You've only been trolling as far as i know. I think you're one of those not deserving a DMC5.
after looking at those screens. its close honestly, ps3 has better texture work, but more jaggies, 360 is smoother, less jaggies, still too many, but looks lower res, and after looking at both version, I'll be waiting for the $10 cheaper, and 1080p 60 frames pc version, think it comes out a week or two later
The lighting is the only major difference.. PS3 is my preferred console so ill get it on there if it scores well
Do not buy this game. Pirate it or whatever, dont give these guys your money.
i will get Rising instead :)
Good! thank you for bringing back hope to video games.
No one cares what you get Fanboy.
You know... I was going to buy DmC before... But you telling me not to buy it just totally changed my mind. Stupid me for thinking for MYSELF and having my own opinions...what the hell was I thinking? Thanks for bringing me to my senses friend.
Stopped reading these vs articles years ago but I just can't resist reading the comments. Grown men who should know better arguing with kids who don't is very entertaining!
Regardless if it's the PS3 or 360 version, the demo is pretty much the final product. The bugs and glitches in the game won't be patched, confirmed on Twitter by the dev.
Not surprising, NT has an ego no one can fill. They probably think that the final version was handed down from whatever god they worship fully finished and will continue to insult fans when they point out the terrible frame rate, glitches, slow boring stale combat, horrible characters, and the middle schoolers dialoge dream of arguments of pure F you's. NT is an insult to developers everywhere when they insult fans.
The imposter looks better on the only true current gen console thats not either a thief, or not even HD. Oh wait, Wii U's out so can't say that anymore because there's now three CURRENT gen consoles, oh well this time next yr they'll be 2 next gens.
still doing these......
there are 2 where they tested the performance for each version and the ps3 version drops frames regulary and has around 35% screen tearing while the xbox version has no screen tearing and is locked to 30fps.... somebody is lying!
LMFAO!! Its the Lense of Truth people. These fcks lie with their comparisons been proven before. Digital Foundry is the way to go. They go down the middle every time. I will wait for their comparison rather than listen to these biased fools.
They compare screenshots when one has lighting in the background and the other does not? That website sucks, there are better websites out there that do this stuff.
I love how people are saying "this only a demo" despite the fact that the demo was released so close to the release date. You all understand that all the problems and crap in this game are still going to be there right?
So... then what about the Metal Gear Revengeance Demo?? The presence of Bugs in a demo close to launch doesn't automatically equate to bugs in the final product. Some things can easily be patched.
MGR doesn't have near the problems DmC does, nor does it have developers who have flat out said they aren't fixing anything. And, in the case of a demo being released so close to the release date, patches would have to come AFTER the release, not before, since the game discs are being printed and shipped.
you know this has been bugging me for a while so ill just ask because maybe one of you knows the answer. why exactly is this game called DmC: Devil may cry; doesnt dmc stand for devil may cry? seems redundant to me
Simply because having two titles in a catalog (regardless of platform) with the same name "Devil May Cry" is misleading. DmC may mean the same thing, but DmC is an implied title that can serve as a reboot franchise, with successive titles being named DmC2, DmC3, etc.
The game looks pretty inconsistent. In some shots it looks better on PS3 and others on 360. The cameras on PS3 had actual textures yet the close up on Dante's face showed the 360 had much better anti-aliasing.
Weird that the PS3 version of this game looks much better than the 360 one. Usually they are extremely close but in this comparison the difference seems quite large. Anyways since this is just a demo i doubt that the final version for the 360 will be that bad especially since its a game from Ninja Theory (the devs who struggled with developing any game for the PS3)
Despite what you may think, this is the final product. They can't do anything so close to release, because the game will have been sent to retail stores by now. The problems with both demos will not be fixed, that's what the dev working on it said. This isn't just small problems either, because people have revealed game breaking things too.
Listen lens of truth is lying to you its looks a lot better on the 360 NOT being a fanboy or anything I have both and probably play my PS3 more me and my friends who are pride PS3 fanboys did this comparison ourselves cause one is a die hard DMC fan. We all saw hands down the 360 version looked better even my girl who don't play games that much notice the difference. PS3 version looked how most Unreal engine games look one the PS3 washed out and faded where the 360 colors looked more vivid and deep. The PS3 version almost gave it a paper look. If you don't believe me get the PS3 version and rent the 360 version and you will be upset that you actually believe the obvious fanboys about this subject.
Everytime someone says "I'm not being a fanboy, I have both and probably play X more" they usually are talking out of their a$$ and no one will believe them. Lens of Truth do these comparisons all the time and have built a reputation on them, comparatively speaking you are a no one that wants people to take your word for it. Who do you think people are likely to trust?
Well I guess I'll be playing the PS3 version
Are we comparing demo versions now? Please... Buy your sh#t on the console you're comfortable with. Most of the time the graphical differences are miniscule, if any at all. I swear people shouting "Oh 360 version has this, PS3 version lacks that" wouldn't be able to tell the difference if they were shown both versions running on two TVs right next to one another. If there's no known performance difference, don't even bother yourself with graphics comparisons. If you're going to develop an obsession regarding getting the version with better visuals, buy a gaming PC and save yourself the trouble.
I don't care what people are saying etc,I'm definitely buying DmC for the PS3!!.....can't wait!!
