The Best Surprises Of 2012

Kotaku: "Sure, 2012 was a year rife with disappointments. But it was also filled with surprises of the best sort. Since we brought everyone down last week with our list of the biggest disappointments of the year, we thought it only proper to also share the best, most welcome surprises." (3DS, iPad, iPhone, PC, PS Vita, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

The thumbnail image is fitting for me because one of my biggest surprises of 2012 was that FINALLY, after 23 years (give or take) The Simpsons Arcade Game was released to home consoles. And on top of that Sony gave it to me at no (extra) charge through Plus. It's also on sale right now on PSN for anyone interested.

The Walking Dead was obviously the big surprise of the year. I would have bought it anyway, but that it was so good was a great bonus. As an adventure game genre fan from way back, and one who considers Heavy Rain to be the best adventure game of all time to date, imo TellTale's The Walking Dead is a pretty damn close second. And that is high praise indeed.
