Stumbo Blames Violent Video Games For Shootings

herald-dispatch.com: House Speaker Greg Stumbo has joined the chorus of people who are blaming violent video games for training shooters.
Stumbo said Friday that there’s little the state Legislature can do about it, but he said Congress certainly can.

The fact that they think video games are causing any harm in real life is hilarious. The most recent Sandy Hook shooter, only played World of Warcraft for the most part.

I don't see how video games can influence violent acts when they pretty much imitate what we see on television, yet that's not getting any blame. If you want to put the blame on anything it's peoples own mental and psychological unstability.

Parents need to wise up when it comes to games.
The majority of parents buy their kids mature games and completely ignore the age ratings on the boxes.
Also, the media, and people in general, need to realize that a lot of games are made for an adult audience. Games aren't just for little kids in arcades anymore.

Exactly I work at a certain place that sells games and people stop there and I witness these parents doing it all the time. I let them know that its rated mature for blood, violence, language, druge use, sexual content, nudity, everything, and they all go, "I know, its okay" while there 8 year old, and im not kidding 8, is standing there waiting for there copy of call of duty or grand theft auto. I'm just like, really?! And I know alot of games that are popular are rated mature, but there are still plenty of rated everyone and teen games that are great and I usually try to recommend them. But sometimes I do get a parent or two that actually has the balls to say no. Like the other day a mother was going to get Far Car 3 for their 9 year old and even though I love the game I told her its really not suitable for someone their age. Parents just got to act like parents

That's true. The gaming industry has done all they can to warn parents about violent games. The parents have to do their part. Most of them seem to ignore this issue. They use gaming as a babysitter for their kids. Instead of just the TV now it's games. Start blaming bad parents politicians. It's not games. But if they do that they'll be blaming the people who put them in office.
