Want To Make Far Cry 3 More Realistic? Check Out This Mod.
Kotaku: "Sometimes what you need is a little realism in your power fantasy. If you feel that Far Cry 3 is missing some crucial realistic bits, maybe this mod is for you."
(Far Cry 3, PC)
Whats with ppl aiming for realism in a video game in this way. Go join a rifle club or something.
If the modders make the entire game realistic I would defnitely not play it.
Such as:
Actual 24 hr sunrise -sunset Actual fatigue. Dont think anyone can run for hrs, and duck, jump, etc what about food? pee /shit? fall sick? 1 bullet close to death or death. After that 1 bullet next 4 months real time for recovery. Realistic cars. Dont expect to jump off the mountain and survive. The amount of syringes and enhancements used Im pretty sure Jason would've OD'ED.
Basically what Im saying is theres a reason devs have built the game in a way for ppl to have fun. The reload speeds or accuracy changes can drastically affect the frantic firefights that I loved about the game.
Suddenly from action hero to regular soldier is not what Im looking for
I agree. It's more fun because it is over the top. It provides a fun break from reality. If it didn't, I don't think it would keep me coming back for more.
That's the point. Defying the limitations of the real world. If you're just putting all the real world limitations back into the game, what's the point? Mid as well go out and enjoy the real world.
It's a matter of context. People enjoy real world mechanics but they want them applied to more outlandish context, because whilst 'real world' aspects are present in 'rifle shooting' (of course) this activity is very constrained.
Typically real world mechanics add depth. Obviously the extent to which they're applied needs to be within reason. There are some real world mechanics like sway, bullet drop similar that add depth which players with a more tactical disposition have a preference towards, but others like 'realistic bullet damage / recovery' are liable to detract significantly from other gameplay elements thereby making their implementation counterintuitive.
Either way, it's a mod; it's entirely optional. Their are those who will appreciate how it adapts gameplay towards their personal preferences, and those who won't. However, when you're the latter, it doesn't make much sense to complain.
In other words the mod removes any attempt at weapon balance from the game by making the guns realistic rather than 'fairer' in comparison to other weapon types.

Joining a rifle club will not enable me to murder hordes of pirates as far as I know.
