Sonic And All-Stars Racing Transformed review | ONM

ONM writes:

"How do you make a character-led racing game so characterless? That was the thought that slammed its way around our brains like a pesky firework as we played Sumo Digital's sequel to its 2010 racer. We raked perfect drifts around corners, dive-bombed rivals to beat them to the finish and dodged various swarms of irritating bee-stacles. And very rarely did we care." (Sonic And All-Stars Racing Transformed, Wii U) 62/100

Seems like quite a harsh review to me. I've got the game and it's pretty damned good. Nice controls, exciting races, decent graphics. My only real criticisms are the confusing way it implements online play, especially custom games as there's no means of contacting your friends in-game they just have to "know" you've created a lobby (or do what I've been doing and resort to Skype). The game is also quite difficult on medium level and virtually impossible on hard.

It'll do nicely for my Kart-racing needs for now and if a MarioKart game for Wii U surpasses Sonic Racing, I'll be one happy customer.

I have this game on the Wii U and it deserves at least an 8 out of 10.
