Inside are GamesBeat’s choices for the best soundtracks of 2012. It’s an eclectic mix of indie, dubstep, and classical composition that aptly reflects this year’s dynamic music scene.
Good choices! Max Payne 3 and Journey were my personal favorites of the year.
Very nice selections.
The Mars mission from Mass Effect 3 has awesome music.
If Gravity Rush is not on the list, you haven't played Gravity Rush. That's how simple that is. Just to clarify a little bit, I'm aware Gravity Rush is in fact on the list. Just saying that it definitely needs to be there. So thank you. EDIT: Wait, it's honorable mentions? ...Hate
Can't believe Hotline Miami didn't even get mentioned.
Hotline Miami's soundtrack is very one-note. It is "good" but it isn't exactly memorable outside of the game.
I've never understood that sentiment. You have to figure in how the music works in conjunction with the game, otherwise it would just be a "best albums of 2012" list. You won't hear anyone humming the music for the Exorcist out in public, and yet it was one of the most endearing, influential soundtracks ever recorded. "Make it catchy" should never be a prerequisite for making a soundtrack that is written expressly to be performed while playing a game.
My favorite soundtrack of the year hands down is persona 4 golden even though it is a remake but if you want to get technical the other choice is persona 4 arena duh! Lol I love the music when you instakill an enemy but all this is my personal choice but I hope many can agree shoji meguro definetly brings unique music to the gaming scene
It's way to few articles about soundtracks, but the again what would a cod, gears, gow, killzone, me, gta, halo, red dead, elder scroll players know about art?
