Black Ops 2 sees boost in online players on Wii U due to Christmas, but population is still small

People across the world got Christmas presents today and some of those gifts were Nintendo Wii U systems with copies of Black Ops 2. Black Ops 2's much discussed small online player base nearly doubled on Christmas day to over 3,000 players at peak hours.

If you have a good connection and want to play a game that rewards bad connection speed and you enjoy horrible hit detection then I recommend Black Ops II

I still can't see myself playing a FPS on the Wii gamepad. It just seems way too big.

You actually get used to it after a while, but if you're unwilling to learn the controller, just buy a controller pro..........that's exactly why it exists, so you don't have to use the GamePad if you don't want to.

Doesn't take long to get used to, and like Shok said the Pro controller is a very comfortable controller. The problem I have is because the right stick is above the 4 buttons, they kind of flipped what they do. Jump is still the closest button to the stick, but that makes it the top one. Playing shooters on PS3 for so long makes you have to relearn a bit.

Alright I will give it a try. I wasn't criticizing the controller I just never thought I could get used to playing a FPS on it because of the huge deadzones on the analog sticks.

My ideal game to get for Wii U is not even close to BO2! Probably because I don't enjoy it as well as many other games but I would go for Mario and play loal Coop! :)

The platform has only been out a month long. Of course the community is small whether or not it is compared to the other platforms.

Some people lack this knowledge. A platform that has existed for one month is not going to have the biggest community even if it had an amazing rate of sales. WiiU is selling strong. Call of Duty sells even if its been dropped in dog crap. So it time the numbers will rise. Its not gonna happen overnight. Honestly to see those early community numbers should be exciting for anyone hoping to play it on the WiiU. Considering that 10-12+ million could hold onto a WiiU in the end of 2013.

Xbox 360 and PS3 both sold up towards 10-11 Million in their first year.

lol...haters never grow up....black ops saw rise in online on wiiu cause people are buying the wiiu and copies of black ops..not because its christmas....what is the reason the numbers go up on ps3 or xbox because alot of people quit their jobs or decide gaming is more important then their families? wiiu just came out a month ago so stop hating and in time you too will realize how special the wiiu is while its winning next generation

Unless you're comparing the overall percentages of consoles sold that are playing BLOPS the comparison is useless. More to the point, there's PLENTY of people online to get a game against so until COD boasts maps with a hundred thousand simultaneous players this is a moot point.

Well duh. Theres only just over a million Wii U consoles sold, so what do you expect? Not every Wii U owner buys the exact same games you know.
Try to make friends with common sense, it'll be a friendship you'll cherish.
