1UP's Favorite Games of 2012: Spelunky

1up.com: This year saw a remarkable number of games inspired by PC RPG classic Rogue hit the market, everything from zombie survival game DayZ to sci-fi strategy hybrid FTL. For my money, none of them are a patch on Mossmouth's Spelunky. Admittedly, Spelunky's been around for a while as a Windows game, but the Xbox Live version released this year feels like a definitive overhaul -- enough to count as a new game. Not only did designer Derek Yu trick out the graphics, the game simply begs to be played with a game pad. (PC, Spelunky, Xbox 360)
