I'm Still Not Sure What To Make of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

Leviathyn.com | Cassidee has read up on the news and seen the trailer for the upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, but she still has no idea exactly how she feels about it. (Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, PS3, Xbox 360)

Isnt it amazing that they can still keep shovelling FF13 Lightening spin offs no problem but they cant even get round to finishing FFVersus 13

Not really. They already have a story set for XIII, characters, and a lot of assets they can reuse. Versus XIII is totally new and will offer an entirely new style of gameplay not seen in Final Fantasy games. They also mentioned during the development of XIII that they cut enough assets to make an entirely new game....which I'm sure was split between this and XIII-2.

They can't even be bothered to localize high-quality games they know will sell well, like Bravely Default, Type-0, or Kingdom Hearts HD.

I think Lightning is one of the worst FF protagonists in the series. She's boring and consequently so are the games. The biggest current problem with FF IMO is that the characters aren't very interesting and the villains aren't villainous or complex enough. It's a game based on story with a terrible cast.

I have no idea what's going on with the FF team but they can't get the protagonist/antagonist dynamic right at all and that's what has always made Japanese RPGs so great - they made you love the mains and hate the villains. Now I never seem to care about either.
True...

I forgot she was the main character for a while...
